"Concerned Women" update naughty/nice list of retailers waging war on Xmas

Contact: Stacey Holliday (!!!!!!!!) of Concerned Women for America, 202-488-7000 ext. 126

WASHINGTON, Dec. 14 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) has updated its Christmas list showing which businesses are embracing the true meaning of Christmas, which are not, and which are middle-of-the-road.

"We are encouraged that some stores are finally getting the message that they need to once again embrace Christmas," said Robert Knight, Director of CWA's Culture & Family Institute. "It seems that people understand the importance more and more as Christmas Day grows closer. 'Happy Holidays' and 'holiday tree' just don't cut it anymore.

"We are very encouraged by the reaction of retailers across the country. Christian consumers have expressed their desire for merchants to recognize the reason their stores are full of business at this time of year. As such, we're adjusting our list to reflect the positive moves by some retailers. Those moving up are in bold type. We will continue to monitor and update as needed. Merry Christmas!"

1. As long as you can shop 'til you drop in Jesus' name.
That's what the true meaning of Christmas is all about.

Dumb shits.

2. Bastards...
Edited on Thu Dec-15-05 01:18 AM by Ally McLesbian
Why don't they just secede, and form a Christian Nation, instead of dragging down the rest of the civilized people of America with them?

In fact, they are floating such an idea at www.christianexodus.org. I hope this does happen, so that we will be rid of those pests.

BTW, nice to know that the boycott targets Republicans as well, such as Dell, The Home Depot, and Bath & Body Works.

24. I encourage all Christo-fascists to secede
as long as they lose all rights and protections of the US - including voting . . .

5. she and the businesses can all take a hike
I am not spending money at any of those places. Bought roving and yarn, told everyone they are getting knitted gifts, whether they like it or not. Period. Hubby is getting a boulder for his Zen rock garden...need to go rock hunting soon. Henrietta the Pet Chicken will get a container of worms from the local bait shop.

(but gad, couldn't they find a spokesperson who doesn't look like some kind of sci-fi character?)

29. That IS the Church Lady, you fool!
I braved a trip over to the CWA's site and Stacey's picture is nowhere on it.

Although I haven't seen Stacey in person or online, I'm willing to bet that she looks something like this:

(Incidentally, that's swimwear.)

notice who is on the NICE list, yes the folks behind the modern commercialized christmas... yes Macy's of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Second, when did the meaning of christmas imply spending ungodly amounts of cash? My, my, how naughty can people be, to spend so much money that they are still paying them bills for the next eight months.

9. Do these people honestly think that the stores are filled
with people shopping to honor their narrow warped concept of "religious" faith? They have to be nuts. . .someone needs to tell them that lots of people shop for the holiday season. And they also should be told to open their damned churches on the white baby Jesus' birthday if they are serious about the reason for the season.

I'm disappointed - my supermarket is on this list.

And why didn't they put Fox Network on the Naughty list for their "holiday" flaws?

in his "Church Lady" persona. but I would bet she bears a striking resemblence and her throne looks like "Santa threw up" (from Grey's Anatomy the other night)

32. I guess where they missed the part
where Jesus told to sell everything to the poor, take up your cross and follow him. Jesus is surely shaking his head. There are so many people in our country who aren't even getting a Christmas this year and these people are more worried about whether or not a store says "Merry Christmas" or not?

16. The only store I frequent is Kroger
and I just sent them a scathing email pointing out a few historical points of each of the leading sponsoring organizations in this faux "war on Christmas". I asked for an explanation for their decision, and if the general public needs to understand that, in the future, only right wing fringe religious groups will be dictating their advertising policies.

Then I told them that, since I wasn't a member of those organizations, I assume the rest of the public cannot participate in their "Christmas" sales because they are designed to endorse only those of the proper religious persuasion.

17. Interesting to notice the difference between the "nice" stores
and the "naughty" stores. The Major Retailers I mean.
Nice:
Dillards
Lord & Taylor
Saks Fifth Ave
Macy's
Sears

Naughty
K-Mart
Costco
Best Buy
Home Depot
BJ's

But there's not a class war or anything :eyes:

19. HAPPY HANNAKWANZMAS
I'll make it a point not to shop at the nice ones on the list and make sure I do shop at the naughty ones.

I just love the fundies...here they are all about being Christian yet every fucking Christmas they want to start a new culture war. What was that phase; "If I have caused my brother to stumble, therefore I have also sinned?"

We have let the fundy nut cases poil the holiday season of its goodwill and cheer and we have let the corporations appeal to our baser greed in trampling over each other to get a cheap item to put under our material tree.

Let's return to a saner time, when holidays meant spending time and having experiences with our friends and loved ones. Happy Holidays
Happy Kwanza
Merry Christmas and above all
Peace and Good wishes to all!!!!!!!!

22. that picture is a joke and did not come from CWA site
That picture is from the Christ Reformed Church web site, it is next to a bio of "Winona Taylor, AKA 'Church Lady,' the secretary-administrator of Christ Reformed Church." http://www.christreformed.org/about/

Though it is a church and therefore full of nutcases, I don't see anything on their site about the "war on Xmas" "issue."
