Conservative Christians Say Fighting Poverty Programs Cuts Not a Priority
So, judicial nominees are more important to these morans than looking out for the poor :eyes:

When hundreds of religious activists try to get arrested today to protest cutting programs for the poor, prominent conservatives such as James Dobson, Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell will not be among them.

That is a great relief to Republican leaders, who have dismissed the burgeoning protests as the work of liberals. But it raises the question: Why in recent years have conservative Christians asserted their influence on efforts to relieve Third World debt, AIDS in Africa, strife in Sudan and international sex trafficking -- but remained on the sidelines while liberal Christians protest domestic spending cuts?

Conservative Christian groups such as Focus on the Family say it is a matter of priorities, and their priorities are abortion, same-sex marriage and seating judges who will back their position against those practices.

1. By their words (and deeds) shall we know them.
These aren't Christians. They're Calvinists.

5. You can't get into heaven without a permission slip from the poor.
Michael Moore is a better Christian than all of those freaks combined.

6. jesus says

"If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me" (Mat. 19:21). The man walked away very sad because he was wealthy. Jesus told His disciples, "And again I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God" (Mat. 19:24).

13. I Thought That Would Be the Quote That You Would Use...
...even before I read your post. Well, it means that none of these rich Republican politicians will get into Heaven, but I guess they don't care. They are having too much fun screwing everyone over while they are still alive.

8. They're not into that Jesus guy
who said render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's, or lording the law over others or that stuff about rejecting those material things and giving them to people in need unless its through a Church charity. But mainly its that render unto Ceasar thing which is how the programs are administered.

9. This is good.
Jesus said it will be easier for a rich man to pass thru the eye of a needle than to enter the kingdom of heaven.

There is an historical note to this. The eye of the needle did not mean a needle as we think of it today. The needle was a tower with a narrow passage. It meant that if you had a camel loaded with possesions, it will be difficult to pass thru that towers entrance.

I am sure Mr. Falwell will not make it thru. I am sure a lot of other christians and other religions will.

Was there a dem response to that speech today??? Thanks

12. Fighting poverty is not a priority?
Jesus didn't agree, nor did the prophets and authors of the Old Testament. In fact, a large part of the Bible teaches on the subject of helping those less fortunate. A little remedial Bible study might be in order.

Peter did say in one of his epistles that those who won't work also won't eat, but I'm pretty sure that he would be appalled that someone can work full time (or more) and still not be able to feed his/her family.

14. Will this break through to Joe Schmo?
C'mon...they might as well come right out and say these groups oppose Jesus and the Bible.

This is heavy duty stuff...will it get ignored by most people, I wonder.

15. Honestly, some of you guys make good points.

I think the people that ignore it are too dumb to vote in any event. The people who know it, at their heart, are the same dumb bastards that cut CCD at every turn, just like me.

I cut CCD at every turn. I can't quote scripture anymore - maybe I never could very well. But I KNOW one thing. There is no significant eastern or western religion that is in conflict with that gospel.

Because - "What-so-ever-you-do-to-the-least of my brothers..." well, that is a fact.

Ignored by most people?? God, it is the religion of most people. I think all people.
