End of Year Push for the Impeachment Movement
Help Save the Constitution

Dear XXXXX,

Shortly after the start of the new year, Congress will return to Washington D.C. They will be greeted with the loudest and largest call yet for the impeachment of Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld. Full page newspaper ads in the New York Times and other newspapers, radio spots, local and regional political rallies, and national lobbying efforts will make it clear that the Bush and Cheney can run from impeachment, but there will be no place to hide.

This campaign has been in the works and gaining momentum since September 24, when hundreds of thousands of people surrounded the White House chanting, “Impeach Bush Now!” The Iraq war is an impeachable offense of the first magnitude, and the people know it.

In the last few weeks, many people have made generous contributions to fund the NY Times and newspaper ads, the radio spots and political rallies. We have made great progress but we urgently need to raise $20,000 in the next few weeks. Help support this campaign today. Nothing is more urgent than to defend and save the Constitution.

The VoteToImpeach/ImpeachBush.org campaign can only depend on its members and supporters. This has become a huge force because of the overwhelming response and support from the people themselves. Bush has limitless resources to lie and deceive and yet he has lost public support. More than 50% of the people now support impeachment if Bush lied about the justifications for the war. And he did.

Please make a generous today to help place the newspaper ads and radio spots in the weeks ahead.

Telling the Truth about Bush’s Iraq War

We have reprinted below an excerpt of the eloquent message sent December 8 by British playwright Harold Pinter as he accepted the Nobel Prize for Literature. Mr. Pinter has been a leading voice in opposition to the criminal war in Iraq. We wanted to share parts of his statement:

“The invasion of Iraq was a bandit act, an act of blatant state terrorism, demonstrating absolute contempt for the concept of international law. The invasion was an arbitrary military action inspired by a series of lies upon lies and gross manipulation of the media and therefore of the public; an act intended to consolidate American military and economic control of the Middle East masquerading - as a last resort - all other justifications having failed to justify themselves - as liberation. A formidable assertion of military force responsible for the death and mutilation of thousands and thousands of innocent people.
We have brought torture, cluster bombs, depleted uranium, innumerable acts of random murder, misery, degradation and death to the Iraqi people and call it 'bringing freedom and democracy to the Middle East'.

How many people do you have to kill before you qualify to be described as a mass murderer and a war criminal? One hundred thousand? More than enough, I would have thought. Therefore it is just that Bush and Blair be arraigned before the International Criminal Court of Justice. But Bush has been clever. He has not ratified the International Criminal Court of Justice...

Death in this context is irrelevant. Both Bush and Blair place death well away on the back burner. At least 100,000 Iraqis were killed by American bombs and missiles before the Iraq insurgency began. These people are of no moment. Their deaths don't exist. They are blank. They are not even recorded as being dead. 'We don't do body counts,' said the American general Tommy Franks ... The 2,000 American dead are an embarrassment. They are transported to their graves in the dark. Funerals are unobtrusive, out of harm's way. The mutilated rot in their beds, some for the rest of their lives. So the dead and the mutilated both rot, in different kinds of graves.”

-Nobel Laureate Harold Pinter

Please support the ImpeachBush.org campaign by making a generous contribution. The movement is growing because of the commitment and self-sacrifice of the people.
