Dateline is about to do a special on telemarketers .....
who are violating the do-not-call list.

Right after the segment on Meg Ryan. Don't want to miss THAT :eyes:

2. Some of us think it's an important issue.
As I've said before, I wonder how many elderly have fallen, trying to get to their phones for those jerks' calls??? My mother used to get those f-----g calls, and when they would not say anything when she answered, it frightened her. I could explain and explain to her that it was because their computer dials at random, and the marketer was still on another call, but she was too old to understand that.

I am on the list, and I had BETTER not get ONE more call!!!!!

4. Telemarketers are one thing...
But I've been called five times in the last four days by the same *&^%$#@!~ recording telling me that I signed up for a contest ("results for the contest not yet available, but let me tell you about...") in a shopping mall that I haven't set foot in for at least fifteen years... I'm getting peeved!

5. My local paper, the
Cleveland Plain Dealer, had a huge article in the Business section featuring the whining and weeping and wailing of local companies who depended on telemarketing for the bulk of their sales, how things were already changing for them and how fearful they were that their businesses would really suffer.

One business owner actually had the nerve to complain about how rude and nasty people were now as compared to the way they used to be, he asked what was wrong with being polite and just saying no thanks. Gee, I don't know, maybe the fact that we get fifteen or twenty of those fucking calls a day might have something to do with it, you think?

Well, boo fucking hoo. You'd think they'd be glad that they have a much better chance of success now that they have a narrower field and those people who didn't put their numbers on the list are more likely to be receptive to their calls.

6. They'll realize that someday

One T-marketer on the program said just that. That the list made his business more efficient.

7. They don't let you stop at no thanks. They have these
super scripts in front of them to answer any comment or question you have so the only choice left to us the consumers is to buy or get rude. I had one company call may dad 2x a day. I got stuck answering the phone cause he was always busy. On the third day I went beserk and told them to take my phone number off their list (the phoneis in my name). They called back 3 hours later. I demanded to talk to a supervior. When he got on the phone I told him I wanted my $500 which they;re suppose to pay if they call with in a year. They explained that it would take 2-3 weeks to get the number of the list and that was the best he could do! They called back again 3 hours later! So I had to be really rude and threaten civil action.
