The Ad Buy is Offensive to many of us DU'ers. But the dilemna is that Skinner..et al, need the Ad Revenue to keep this site going without begging too much to the viewers. So...they subscribe to this "Ad Package" thinking it's not so bad...MSRNC is giving big bucks to buy time for Rita Cosby's "Failing Raitings" so...DU and Josh Marshall and other Lib Blogs say..."Okay...what the Hell...we need the money and we have alot of Diversity that won't mind the Ad.

So..they take the "Titties AD" and some of their website viewers have a BIG PROBLEM WITH IT....But in the end, it's all about the $$$$$$$'s to keep the website going...

It's a hard call, for us "moralists" to deal with it. STILL...I want to see Male Porn and a big NEON PENIS promoted on Liberal Websites before I "cave" on my position on this. Why is it only "Tit's and ASS" that get Advertising? Where is the Balls and Staff? :shrug:

I don't find it offensive, but it is sexist and annoying and opportunistic. And, it's just rude - 'specially since the female silhouette is totally unreal - kinda like Barbie before before Mattel "fixed" her.

Also, the neon is, IMO, not appropriate on DU since many of us check DU at the office. I had to turn off the graphic because I'm a manager at work and just cannot have people thinking I'm viewing porn!

OH, and yeah, the link to MSRNC demands that I use MSIE, which I don't, so the ad is wasted on me. Doesn't mean I still don't think it's out of place.

19. Eh, it's just a graphic icon used to symbolize the subject of the

program. Considering what other images they could have used, it's pretty darn tame. Besides, women aren't the biggest consumers of porn, men are.

But what do I know, I do idealized female pin-ups for Hard Rock cafe from time to time (I'd draw men too-if they asked for them), and I used to have a prostitute as a roommate-not that I'm endorsing any of it, mind you.
