Torture (The Real War On Christmas)
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 06:17 PM by Uncle Joe
While we have bromides about the tragic war against Christmas because someone says Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, or a store calls it a Holiday Tree instead of a Christmas Tree from the neocon group, I thought what would Jesus do? Personally, I don't think he would give a flip, he was far more concerned about the big picture, you know peace on Earth, treating your fellow human as you would want to be treated, loving your enemy as your self, the good Samaritan, turning the other cheek, the Beatitudes and all that.

Then I thought what would Jesus think of Christians who practice torture, having been crucified and having his followers fed to the lions by the Roman Empire. I have thought about this day and night and I still cannot come up with a reason as to why Jesus would torture someone, even while on the cross he asked God to forgive his tormentors, "because they know not what they do". After much consideration, I have come to the conclusion that Jesus would be upset and angry, that after 2000 years humankind has still not learned his lessons. So in the final analysis, in my mind the real war against Christmas is our policy of torturing other people.

In conclusion let me wish everyone a Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Years, and I might as well get a start on Valentines, Happy Valentines!

Edit: P.S. For the pagans Happy Winter Solstice, and the atheists, Happy December.
