Clark MeetUp Numbers Reach 40,000
Boy, that's a whole lot of evil PNAC rethug-lite stooges! Who knew that Richard Perle had so many friends! Actually, I think this is evidence that Clark has no grassroots support. Or something.

Seriuosly, the rate of increase has been slowing recently, but hopefully it should speed up again when Clark is back on his feet, and when the next MeetUp begins to approach.

I think we can reach 1/2 of Dean's total, despite our late entry. Get friends to sign up and MeetUp.

Also, if you're shaking your head at the stew of lies that certain crackpots on DU are addicted to, there's no better balm than taking a page out of the Dean playbook, and donating ten dollars:

I'm going to (hopefully) meet Clark at a fundraiser not too long from now, and will post a report on DU sometime soon.

2. Hey that's great!
I'm obviously for Dean, but I think MeetUp is great because it means that people are getting involved, and getting organized.

For the Dean campaign here locally, MeetUp has been instrumental in bringing new people in and letting them meet face to face. A subset of the regular MeetUpers have become our Working Group and now our Exec. Committee. Not sure we could've done it this efficiently without MeetUp.

What happens at a Clark MeetUp? Does the campaign provide specific stuff to be worked on?

3. My last MeetUp was too packed
But that should improve with this new location we have.

It's similar to the Dean MeetUp I went to a while back when I was interested in him as my candidate for the nomination. It began with some ra-raing about the candidate (as normal), talking about where/when we could help and volunteer locally, and ended with lots of people drinking beer, eating, and talking about life and politics.

Standard fare :)

9. Very specific
The last meet-up, which was the first official one since Clark declared, focused three main areas. We're out on Long Island. There were people from the NY campaign there and they discussed the campaign in general with us. Then they went over the mechanics of signature gathering and discussed a seminar on that. We went through a bit on FEC rules, too as they would apply to our efforts and money spent by our group. They discussed strategy as it applies to our area specifically. There was someone there from a local congressman's office to provide contact information. It was very organized and productive.

Pretty much everyone at the meet-up were solidly for Clark, but quite a few hadn't been to a Draft Clark meet-up so this was the first for them and questions were asked and answered and there was some discussion about why we supported him.

4. We had 64 at our last meetup for Clark
It's kind of funny, because there are about 10 folks going to both the Clark AND the Dean meetups.

6. Yeah,
Wolfie can really dance when he gets a couple of Long Island Iced Teas in him. Who'd a thought he could get down with the homies like that? And who was that babe he came in with? Condy something?

11. Thank you, pruner
We disagree about the Good General often, but thank you. And much fun at the Dean MeetUps--which you should be attending!

12. tho you're right that we often disagree about Clark…
I do think he's a good candidate and I'm glad he's in the race. if he ends up winning the nomination I'll be more than happy to give my time and money and to his campaign.

as far as MeetUps go, I've attended several for Dean (which take place at more than 15 venues in NYC…where I live) and had planned to attend the most recent one for Clark but I got stuck working late that night. I'll definitely try to make it to the next one.
