Looking for information on the Christian Coalition
I'm doing a research project on the CC for my AP Government class, and at the moment, I'm looking for information on the demographics of the CC's members and also which public officials have received the most money from the group. Does anyone have links or sources to where I can find this information and more?

1. You mean the organization that will singlehandedly turn this
country into a fundamentalist theocracy??? That theory is highly over rated and easily dispelled.

I may be mistaken, but the CC doesn't donate to any public official but primarily are involved in voter education via their voter guides. They may support organizations that support certain issues but do not directly support candidates.

2. Do not underestimate their power.
It may be lessening, but one look at their website shows what is all over the news. They have a lot of power. They have inroads to the churches which advocate for issues and even candidates and wars from the pulpits.

3. They have a lot of power
No, they don't have a lot of power.

What they have is influence by printing out voter guilds by the millions to inform people on where candidates stand. People still have to think for themselves and make their own choices when they vote.

I know, I know, the people who go to churches and belong to the CC are autotons that are mindless, easily lead and quickly beguiled. :sarcasm:

Thought I would save you the canned response.

4. What "canned response" do you want or expect?
I am sorry, but you must be talking over my Southern Baptist head.

6. Sorry about that
I'm so used to the people here who claim the "religious right" is the second coming of Genghis Khan riding over the gates of free speech and liberty covertly taking control of our government in the name of "Theocracy" where the bill of rights are abolished and democrats are put in camps for re-education if they don't "believe"

Basically they claim the religious right equates Taliban if we don't watch them

That was the response I was expecting

5. Lots of good material at this link
http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=4307

The CC has been supplanted in recent years by other equally vile hate groups, most even more extreme in their public rantings. The whole range of organizations that are part of the corporatist-fundie network are listed in the links on the left of that page.
