Michael Berg (beheading victim's father) to run for Congress
'Revenge will stop with me'

(snip)

"I didn't do enough to stop the war to save my own son," says Michael, an athletic 60-year-old who looks much younger and exudes a Buddha-like calm. "I can't do anything now to save my own son, but I can do something to save your son."

So he has taken to the streets protesting the war wherever he can, including weekly protests in Wilmington with the Delaware grass-roots peace group Pacem in Terris and in West Chester with Chester County Peace Movement. He has other causes, too. He was arrested on Black Friday at Christiana Mall when he took part in a "Buy Nothing Day" protest.

(snip)

He even announced last month he will seek the eco-friendly Green Party's nomination to run against U.S. Rep. Michael Castle, a Republican, in next year's election.

The campaign could elevate him in the public eye, but also make him more of a lightening rod. He's been one since he said after his son's death: "My son died for the sins of George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld. This administration did this."

2. Do you think he wonders if it wasn't the terrorists at all, but our own
troops that did that to his son?

4. Let's Get It On!
As a Delaware anti-Bush war Democrat born in West Chester, Pa. I am also an employee of the natonal Head Start program that has lost funding due to Rep. Mike Castle's very own sponsored House bill. I am also the son of 80 year old parents whose Medicare benefits have been cut recently by another one of Castle's lockstep partisan party votes. It gives me great desire and determination to help defeat this so called "moderate Republican" by volunteering for Mr. Berg's campaign. It was my Democrat friend and co-worker, Paul Donnelly, a military family anti-war spokesman who challenged Castle in the last election. In no way did an average working-class citizen like Mr. Donnelly who without personal/private money or financial support from the DelDems have a chance at winning no matter how Blue the state of Delaware is. Castle never had to post campaign signs or run ads because his opponent was basically broke from the beginning. How does one mount a succssful Congressional campaign on a $12.50 per hour job? I sincerely hope Mr. Berg gets the financial support he needs.
