1. GREAT movie!
I remember hearing a few years back Warren was recording an audio commentary for a dvd plus he was editing a director's cut of the film (back in the early 80's ABC broadcast a 2 night version with scenes not shown in the theaters) But, having said this you should also realize Warren is a great procrastinator. My guess it will be out soon (I think most his films are available on dvd)but don't hold your breath. Hope that helps.Try checking out this place. Click on cover art.

2. Just saw it again, after many years, a couple of weeks ago (VHS)
and sadly reflected on how a movie like that would be very hard to make right now. It was controversial back then as well -- Beatty had to function as a producer, not just a director and actor.

5. IMO
The film is very under rated. I remember Warren talking about screening it at the White House & how Reagan was bummed because it was such a 'downer'of a movie.I think Warren is a far better producer/director than an actor. Bulworth was GREAT & even Dick Tracy was flawless in direction.REDS is his masterpiece & I would rather see him take his time & release a special edition than just a barebones version. Believe it or not, you can email Paramount home video & tell them you want this out on dvd. Somewhere at Digital bits there is a list of emails for you to request such titles.

3. According to Amazon,
"This title will be released on December 31, 1969. You may order it now and we will ship it to you when it arrives". I assumed that date was a typo and I pre-ordered it about a year ago. No reponse yet.

I saw it when it first came out and already have a VHS tape. But DVDs have spoiled me something rotten, and I really CRAVE those extra features.
