I tried this discussion:

the winter holiday known as Christmas predates Christianity, and our current Christmas celebration is already a mix from several cultures and religions.

Then I said something about how America was founded by people from all over and upon the idea that anyone (granted, the definition of "anyone" has expanded a bit since the framing, but along the lines of the ideal Democratic experiment...) was welcome here, regardless of whether they held the majority viewpoint or not, and that their rights to believe and speak as they want are upheld by the Constitution/Bill Of Rights.

I also mentioned that as a non-Christian, I will respect anyone's beliefs and rights to call it what they want and celebrate how they feel or not to, but think it is wrong for anyone to try to force their version of their religion upon someone else. Also since it is a National holiday, everyone is allowed to celebrate, regardless of faith or lack thereof.

... then it starts to sink in exactly how easy it must have been for the Bullsh Crime Family to take over America.

I don't mind a spirited debate; hell, I enjoy one regardless of agreement or belief as long as you can back up why you believe what you're arguing, but this guy was having a battle of wits armed with a rubber chicken.

to put it on Dec 25 from the pagans, because its so close to winter solstice, and alot of the symbols used (tree etc...) are pagan. and the truth is we have no idea on which day Jesus was born.
