so we go to see syriana....
we are sitting in our seats waiting for the movie to start when a guy walks down to the end of our row with two LITTLE KIDS.i say the oldest one is four years old.so the movie starts, 10 minutes into the movie the little girl starts whining. 10 minutes later the little boy starts kicking the seat in front of him.10 minutes after that the little boy is walking up and down the row talking. you hear people in the theater saying SSSHHHHHHH! trying to quiet the kid while the idiot dad sits there. finally one lady gets up angd goes and tells the manager. meanwhile, the F word has been said at least 20 times in the movie.(great for kids to hear).so the kids are still whining, i look over toward the dad,AND HE IS ASLEEP! while the two little kids are talking loud to each other. the dad wakes up, looks around, grabs his coat and KIDS,gets up and leaves! by now there is only about 30 minutes left in the movie. I DONT BLAME THE CHILDREN. but what kind of fucking idiot takes his kids to the movies and then watches syriana! it ruined the movie for all of us liberal/clooney fans.thanks for letting me vent!

9. Read the New Yorker review of it
(after you see it, of course).

I thought the review was spot on. It didn't suck, but I was expecting more.

20. really suck? NO, really good , NO

two snips of reviews I found applied to Syarina

One reviewer wrote:
"Mosaic of Middle East geopolitics is at once too simplistic yet plot-wise too convoluted."

ROGER EBERT wrote: The movie's plot is so complex we're not really supposed to follow it, we're supposed to be surrounded by it. Since none of the characters understand the whole picture, why should we

I rarely go to movies, and for the 1st run I found the film to be blurry - could have been focused better? Is this normal at theaters?

3. That's nothing.
I went to see a film recently, and this guy walked in 20 minutes into the film and starts snoring! So loud, I could hear him from across the theater.

4. Sorry about your experience
in what is said to be a good movie with George Clooney about OIL.

But, it reinforces my belief that I am better off at home with my DVDs..I don't mind that I have to wait a little longer.

11. Which is what I always do. I will wait for it to come out on DVD.
I don't like movie theatres, for the very reasons stated here. Nothing like the comfort of your own home for viewing a movie, I say.

8. Thanks for reminding me of another reason I'm content to wait
until a good movie comes out on DVD and then rent the sucker. If it isn't some jerk rattling candy papers in your ear so you can't hear the dialog, it's some jerk yacking on his cell phone, giving a description of the movie to the equally dimwitted jerk on the other end, and he's YELLING on that cell phone. All the time you'd love to march up to the manager and demand your money back, but damn, you're in the middle of the row and stuck to the floor by gawd knows what combination of spilled goo.

Bratty kids are usually something else, and a word to the manager will get them evicted from inappropriate films.

That dad sounded drunk.

10. I'm a pretty easy going gal but...
nothing turns me into a STARK RAVING BITCH quicker than bad movie theater etiquette.

IF IT'S NOT A DISNEY OR PIXAR PICTURE, LEAVE THE LITTLE BITTY KIDS AT HOME PLEASE!!!!

13. This is why I rarely go to the theater anymore
Once upon a time, you could complain and they would ask people like this to leave. But the last time I complained, the manager told me that the talkers had paid for their ticket just like I had.

My favorite talking in a movie theater story was when we went to see Batman and a guy behind us was reading the credits to his kid (like anyone reads them all anyway :eyes: ) The sad part was that this guy couldn't read! He was stumbling over words and drawing out their pronunciations like you do in a phonics lesson. 'bu-ah-t-mu-ah-nn' 'Producer' was 'pro-duck-ter'. I wish I could remember the rest. I don't think anyone complained, it was too comical.

I hope it doesn't suck!

I hate poor behavior in the theater, or at concerts or anywhere.

16. A very similar, yet very different, story...
Once my wife and i were eating lunch at a small local eatery...maybe 10 or so tables. An group of office workers were a couple tables over, just talking amongst themselves, laughing, etc. Then one of them, a mid-30's male, takes out his new cell-phone and starts playing EVERY DAMN ringtone the thing has on it. THIS WENT ON FOR 3 OR 4 MINUTES! Everyone in the place was staring, mumbling, frowning, gesturing. It was MADDENING!

Suddenly, this young woman came stomping from a table across the room, rage on her face, stood in front of the offending gentlemans seat, and screamed "STOP IT!!! STOP IT NOW!!! YOUR MOTHER WOULD BE ASHAMED!!!

She turned, went back to her seat, and everyone in the place clapped...except those at the offending table. After a minute, the man stood and apologized.
