Today's the last day for Connected on MSNBC
Today is the last show of Connected on MSNBC with Ron Reagan and Monica Crowley.

It is with mixed feeling to see it go. I like Ron a lot, and I hope he stays with MSNBC or gets a show somewhere else. He's a great representative of the progressive point of view. Anyone know what's next for him?

But he has been diluted by the format and the fact that the show is an imitation of Hannity and Colmes, with the "left-right" back and forth between co-hosts.

Oh well.

1. I never even heard of it so maybe it won't be missed by many--
I never watch daytime TV,period, if that's when it's on.

2. Monica Crowley's snarkyass attitude did that show in
She was too much of a spitting shithead, ill-informed, and her voice was irritating, AND she isn't that bright. Had he been paired with someone with a bit more gravitas, who wasn't an hysterical screamer, like, say, Pat Buchanan's sister (assuming they HAD to do the male/female thing) it might have played better.

He was just too smart, and she was too stupid. He was too calm, and she would not shut up even when she did not have her facts in order.

3. Well at least she wasn't Hannity
Despite her snarkiness and awful views,m she at least has some sense of decorum compared to Hannity, and would let guests finish their sentences.

4. You ought to send your analysis to in case they're
thinking about using Monica Crowley in something else.

BTW, I agree with everything you said - - especially about her filibustering guests and co-host alike, whether she knew the facts or not.

6. Monica Crowley is intolerable
Shame on MSNBC for saddling Ron with a Nixon Repub. operative.

16. Isn't how that always is?
They always look so stupid shouting and screaming while the other person is just calm, cool and collected. I hope Ron has his OWN show too although I doubt that would ever happen. *sigh* I agree that he is a great rep for us liberals. I remember he was a pundint on a show on MSNBC and he proudly proclaimed he was a liberal. :D

18. He's one of the few Bhuddists on TV, too
Likely accounts for his serenity, IMO.

5. Ron Needs A Better Forum
Hopefully he'll take GE's money then looks for a better deal. From what I've read, Ron wants to work from Seattle...which is a pain for a network...and I think ruffled a few corporate feathers.

The other side is Ron's name and the reaction he brings. While many of us enjoy his progressive voice and views, and he still claims to be an independent, the network appears to shy away from irritating the right wing/faux viewers and thus has to "balance" their "libruls"...either by keeping them hidden away (like Ron) or marginalized...like Olbermann.

I'd love to see Ron given an hour during prime time...just like bowtie boy and Scarborough...and let him do his thing. Crowley? I think a PPV mudwrestling match with Rita Cosby with the winner taking on Tonya Harding sounds about right.

8. She's Boosting Our Troops "Morale"...
I can't hit the remote fast enough when her mug or that voice comes on. Sheesh...that entire hour is Death Valley. It's either Rita Rooter...Nancy Nostrils, Larry King Dead or Insannity and Strawman. That's a great hour to read a book, surf the web and avoid corporate media.

11. Who's Nancy Nostrils??
I am right there with you regarding Rita "Throaty McFinkerstein" as Jon Stewart called her one night. She and Paula Zahn, Monica Crowley and Rush's girfriend Darin Kagan are all tied in the puke factor for me. I can't decide which one repulses me the most.

I tivo the Connected show just to see Ron, even though I had to put up with Monica - and I'm sorry to see the show end. I hope he gets his own show. Fingers crossed. Until then, it's just Keith Olbermann and Democracy Now for me (and Jon Stewart of course.)

10. I'd Have Ron Go Solo...
Donahue is definitely a solo act. I'm not sure you remember the shows he did in the early 90's with the former Soviet propaganda minister (I forget his name)...paint couldn't try fast enough.

I'd bring on bowtie boy and Scarborough and let them face off with Ron...or bring in regular "conservatives"...but I firmly believe Ron is strong enough on his own to not only handle a show, but make it entertaining as well.

Crowley? What is it with that name? Now I'm thinking buffet tables....

14. I too, like Ron Reagan
A lot. He's level headed, seems to always be able to cut through the bullshit without making the bullshitter look totally stupid. I think he deserves his own show, and I hope MSNBC keeps him on. My guess is for now he will be a "floating commentator/debater," popping up on their various news shows to give perspective and opinion. I saw him in that capacity on one of the news shows this week.

15. Interesting. I'm surprised to find MSNBC still tweaking their schedule
what with the impending breakup since MSFT wants out of the deal. However, I must confess I forget when, exactly, the big divorce takes place.
