Chimpy's approval tanking even in repuke-leaning rasmussen poll - 43%
Don't even think about buying into the "chimp on the rebound" narrative the right-wingnuts have been pushing. The trend is clear, even in repuke-friendly polls ->

Bush Job Approval
Approve Disapprove
Today 43 55
Dec 8 44 54
Dec 7 45 53
Dec 6 46 52
Dec 5 48 52
Dec 4 47 52
Dec 3 46 53
Dec 2 46 54
Dec 1 44 56
Nov 30 46 53
Nov 29 45 54

1. I learned today that W was once at 35%
Matt Lauer and Chris Mathews were talking about Bush bounce (with a "Is Bush bouncing back?" subtitle on the screen) and if there really is a Bush bounce and why that Bush bounce might be occurring if there is a Bush bounce. They said that the latest NYT/CBS poll had the Bush approval rating at 40%. They didn't mention any other part of this particular poll-I haven't seen it but something tells me that W's approval wasn't the only question on the poll oh well no matter probably nothing of great importance to find out anyway..... SO where were we...Oh yeah the Bush bounce

Lauer"Chris the latest New York Times CBS poll has President Bush at a 40% approval rating this is up 5 points from a few weeks ago"

Really? W was at 35%??? I watch the Today show almost everyday (background noise) and I don't remember them ever reporting that W had gotten down to 35. 38 or "below 40" sure but never all the way down to 35. I guess that only needs to be mentioned when he is bouncing back from it....from something that no one talked about when it happened.

40 huh? Gee that's just great for your guy isn't it?

3. He was at 34 in at least one poll.
He's bouncing back now because there haven't been any new indictments in the White House for over a week. For a man who's lowered the bar into the "limbo range" versus "high jump range" that's a huge and impressive accomplishment. Yay Bush! His biggest (new) embarassments both happened overseas (rebukes in the UN on torture, and at Montreal on global warming). But hey, who cares what a buncha foreigners think?

2. There was a time I got Fs on a few math tests in grade school
When I started getting D minuses, no one was congratulating me on my "bounce" or my "comeback."
