The Truth Comes Out...

The New York Times | DOUGLAS JEHL | Posted December 8, 2005 10:16 PM

The Bush administration based a crucial prewar assertion about ties between Iraq and Al Qaeda on detailed statements made by a prisoner while in Egyptian custody who later said he had fabricated them to escape harsh treatment, according to current and former government officials.

The officials said the captive, Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi, provided his most specific and elaborate accounts about ties between Iraq and Al Qaeda only after he was secretly handed over to Egypt by the United States in January 2002, in a process known as rendition.

1. I just heard that on the radio on the way in to work . . .
Show exactly how well torture works to obtain information doesn't it?

Doesn't surprise me in the least.

2. So no wonder why Cheney is fighting to keep torture???
All he needs is to buy a few victims -- from the Taliban etc. and then torture them to confess to any of his pet theories so he and bushie can start another war.

Chicken hawks are going to get more people killed --

4. Information obtained by torture is useless, anyway
People will say anything if you torture them enough.
