The O'Loofah Factor
Just a question did anyone catch the Factor today? I was curious if he said anything about the fact that Jon Stewart busted him trying to float a bogus story.

2. He accused comedy central
of being part of the war on christmas. He used daily show footage that was a year old to make his point. Stewart called him out on it later that night.

3. Sooo....
when oh when is someone going to send O'Reilly some proper ornaments for his tree? You know, tiny loofahs on little hooks?

4. Bill.
Do you like Phil Collins?

I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, "Duke". Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual.

It was on "Duke" where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think "Invisible Touch" was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.

Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism.

Take the lyrics to "Land of Confusion". In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. "In Too Deep" is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting.

Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like "In the Air Tonight" and "Against All Odds". But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. "This is Sussudio", a great, great song, a personal favorite.

11. I Have A Different Take On Genesis
Actually the song "Jesus, he knows me" seems to fit these asshats.

I'm a fan of the 4 Genesis...not 3, not 5...4...after Gabriel and before Steve Hackett left the band...he took a tremendous amount of musical expertise with him that the band missed in later recordings. Check out Wind & Wuthering & Trick Of The Tail. You'll hear plenty of Collins in there, but an extra added dimension Hackett brought.

12. Are you an American Psycho?
Because all that Phil Collins crap is from that movie (main character monologue).

13. I'm Not For Harming O'Reilly
He's too amusing...and I suspect he'll be even more fun to watch in the future.

The only movie I saw with Phil Collins was "Buster"...and if it wasn't on cable, I'm not sure I would have stuck around.

15. I love Trick of the Tail; it's a masterpiece, really...
And you're right about Hackett, they were better with him, than after him. He was/is an extremely gifted guitarist. I love Peter Gabriel, though, and the early Genesis, just as much. Duke is my cutoff point; anything after that has much less interest to me.

19. I Think We're Snobs...LOL
Yes, Trick Of The Tail is my favorite Genesis album. I just heard Squonk the other day...cranked it up. A rare but also very good album is Steve Hackett's first solo...features Steve Walsh of Kansas and Richie Havens on vocals and some real amazing instrumentals. Sheesh...now I'm showing my age and wondering why there isn't music like this being produced today.

:hi:

Cheers...

10. You know, if you really think about it, the poor guy is
actually probably buried in a sea of loofahs by now. I mean, really. You know he had to have received at least a dozen or so, if not two or three times that many. Poor Bill. Over-scrubbed and...well, kind of over.

16. Hehe.. I can imagine O'Reilly getting more pissed off
each time he got another loofa. Maybe some of those "cancelled" guests actually got the Loofa count for the day, when it was above 3 you didn't want to be on the air with him...

18. Called the ACLU "UnAmerican" and the "far left" (us?) Nazis
but other than that, no big thing.

No mention of Jon Stewart that I heard.

And Keith Olbermann gave him the old 1-2 on Countdown today.

Howard Stern called him out on all that "No Spin" stuff he hawks--said it was all ego. And he's right (Howard, I mean).
