Normie Coleman, the freshman senator, (and also my own :-P) is the ultimate sellout. He's a turd smear on the bottom of a cockroach.

69. Norm Coleman is a slug.
THIS is the man to replace Paul Wellstone? An opportunitistic creep who apparently has no core principles whatsover. Sold his soul to the right wing of the Republican party. Sickening and disgusting.

I apologize to any Minnesotans about how harsh my comments might be. But I idolized Paul Wellstone. One of the very few people of principle in Congress. And to see Coleman, this blow dried non-entity, replace Wellstone...sad beyond words.

I wish I could find the essay Garrison Kellior wrote about Norm Coleman after the 2002 election...at salon.com. Because it expressed exactly how I feel about him.

3. Tough call....
I always hated McConnell for his bug eyes and arrogant fascist attitude. Zell Miller is the worst example of a DINO on the planet - Holy Joe has nothing on this clown (aside from his love for PNAC).

But Saxby Chambliss has to take the prize for the unbelievably shitty way he based his campaign on questioning the patriotism of a man who left half his body in Vietnam :grr:

5. I had to go with Normie Coleman in part....
....because of the way he got there.
....that, and the fact that he's just an opportunistic weasel without any core values except political expediency that serves to advance Normie's career....oh, but he wants to be on a national ticket soon!

Remember that Normie pointed to a couple of positions that he said set him apart from being a Bush rubber stamp? On drilling in Alaska, he announced that he was prepared to say, "Mr. President, you're wrong!"
Well, he's already flipped on that one. For all sorts of convoluted reasons, he's firmly in Bush's corner on ANWR.

then just this past week, he flipped on the voucher plan for D.C. schools. He ran saying he opposed vouchers....now, because the d.c. school chief endorsed it (willing to try ANYTHING to secure a little more money for d.c. schools) Normie is going to vote for the voucher plan. wingers and religious folks are soooo pleased becaus this signals normie is coming around to their view, and they were so worried about having a secular Jew represent them. (of course, Paul Wellstone was Jewish, too, but that was just one reason they despised him.)

49. It's such a big field...
I went with Coleman because of how he got there and also the fact that his rank ignorance was on such public display last night. Chambliss is equally despicable, I just wanted to help Norm catch up w/ him.

Also, an "honorable" mention to that grinning dimwit George Allen, currently embarrassing my state in the upper chamber.

19. I hate him the most
because he is my senator. I hate him even more because my gay neice was restricted from her partners hospital room, because it made the "parents" uncomfortable. 6 yrs of living together, and she was banned from the room. My neice was eventually allowed back in, because her partner could still nod up and down when the hospital administrater came to her room and asked if she wanted my neice allowed in the room. Sadly she passed away within a week.

Smirky face George Allen really gets my goat. Does that creep keep that smirk on his face when he goes to funerals? He bears watching. He really tows the party line. I think he is being groomed for higher office by the neo-clones.
No one opposed John Warner (R) in the last election. He had a free ride. Please, someone run against Allen! I'm hoping our Governor, Mark Warner (D), will run against him and beat him. Two senators with same last name from the same state. Very interesting.

23. George Allen isn't even a real Virginian.
He grew up in Southern California where he was the only teenager with Confederate flag bumper stickers all over his car. His big claim to fame at Palos Verdes High School (I was in his graduating class) was the racist graffiti he sprayed on the walls and had to publically apologize for.

He was an asshole then, and he's an asshole now.

25. Got that right
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 03:50 AM by electricmonk
Nothing can make me change the channel faster than seeing his stupid smirk show up on the screen. He had his smirk down way before * came along. It doesn't matter what he's talking about he still has that fake smile on his face. The area I live in wasn't hit by Isabelle but I don't recall seeing Allen on the news saying how he's going to help those struck by the hurricane so hopefully everybody will remember that next election time. Mark Warner was all over the state trying to bring help in.

edit:

Meant to add that the only reason he won the election was because of his name. For some reason so many Virginians have this blind love of the Redskins which his dad used to coach and because of that they voted for him.

65. Omigosh. I went to see if I could locate an article on Bond's drinking
and found something totally different, if anyone wants to take a moment to be horrified.

This is a Mother Jones' article about a campaign manager who worked for Kit Bond, George Bush, John Ashcroft, etc., etc.

Why we have never HEARD about this before is a miracle. You really should take a scan. Here is a before and after view of his second ex-wife:

(snip) The True Character of a Spin Doctor?

Republican media whiz Donald Sipple has crafted campaigns for Bob Dole, George Bush and his son George W., and Pete Wilson. But do Sipple's attack ads mirror a hidden past, that of an obsessive, hot-tempered man who beat two former wives?

by Richard Blow

Regina Sipple wasn't going to lose her boy, not if she could help it. She hadn't returned to Missouri, to a small courthouse in rural Callaway County, in the middle of a steamy July, just to hand over her son to the father who, she claimed, used to forget the child's birthday. She didn't think he cared about the boy. Rather, she would say later, he just wanted to hurt her, like he used to hurt her.

A top GOP media adviser, Sipple helped define "character" as a campaign issue.
Regina guessed that her ex-husband, Donald Sipple, one of the Republican Party's most successful political consultants, would do everything in his considerable power to portray her as a bad mother who didn't deserve custody of their son. In politics, Sipple was a master of manipulation -- that's why Republican senators and governors and presidential candidates had paid him millions. Sipple's skill at creating emotional and persuasive political advertisements had landed him jobs with some of the GOP's top figures, including Bob Dole, George Bush, Texas Gov. George W. Bush, and California Gov. Pete Wilson. Regina, by comparison, was a single mom struggling to raise a son -- 13 years, she and Evan had been alone together. Without a lot of money, without a lot of help -- just each other. Evan didn't even want to live with his father. He wanted to stay with his mother, in California, where he played football and tooled around with computers. But in Regina's experience, her ex-husband didn't hesitate to use the skills of manipulation in his private life as well as his public one, and she worried.

So Regina was prepared to take a step she had always avoided. She was going to testify in court that during their marriage, Don had repeatedly beaten her, turning their time together into matrimonial terror. Afraid of her ex-husband's power, Regina had never before gone public with that accusation. Now Don was forcing her to.

It encouraged her that she wasn't alone in charging Don Sipple with monstrous behavior: His second ex-wife, Deborah Steelman, was also going to testify that Sipple had beaten her. And Steelman wasn't a little fish like Regina. She was one of the most respected women in the nation's capital, a prominent Washington lawyer who had worked for Ronald Reagan and George Bush. Why would Steelman, who had so much to lose and nothing to gain, say that Don had beaten her if it weren't true? (snip/...)

http://www.motherjones.com/mother_jones/SO97/blow_jump.html

Sorry not to have more info. on Kit Bond now, in a hurry. Kit Bond is a good vote for Most Hated. Does anyone else at D.U. think he's a habitual drunk?

47. If anyone shares the blame with shrub for 9/11...it's Richard Shelby!
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 10:32 PM by burr
In 1997 Anthony Lake..who was Clinton's national security adviser, a top expert on terrorism and the Al-Qaida..was also Clinton's first choice to become CIA director.

As a Democrat Shelby voted against Clinton's budget, the one which brought America record surplusses. As a result..pork was cut from the budget, meant to go for Alabama. Later Shelby would become Phil Gramm's needed vote to continue the filibuster against healthcare reform...or the compromise "Mitchell Bill" that could have passed. Then in December 1994 Shelby switched "officially" to the dark side.

As the chairman of the intelligence committee, Shelby blocked Lake's nomination as CIA director. This is how we ended up with an idiot like Tenet in charge of the CIA. Tenet was an amateur who was still learning on the job when 9/11 occurred, Lake was a professional who could of reorganized the CIA in such a fashion that we would of known and taken action weeks before this tragedy could of occured.

As far as other Senators go...Chambliss, Miller, and Hatch are close behind in destroying life, liberity, and the pursuit of happiness.

As a former Pennsylvania resident (yes, for those who know me, I've lived in a LOT of places...IL, FL, NJ, PA, KY and TX) you have to understand the demographics.

PA is basically Philadelphia and Pittsburgh...with Ala-fuckin-bama in between!
Philadelphia...very East Coast Sophisticated...
Pittsburgh...very Midwestern grit sorta place.

Ala-fuckin-bama elected Santorum.

Understand?

62. Miller
He's so phony, he won't even admit to being a repug. He goes along with * on everything, allowing the chimp to call everything "bipartisan".

How did he get the name Zell, anyway? Did his parents not know the apphabet very well, and thought the letter H was a letter N turned sideways?

64. My vote goes to
Rick Santorum. I hate that so-and-so. He's the one in charge of getting rid of Social Security and Medicare. He's the one who is in charge of getting PA's electoral votes for bush*. He and that chairman of the PA Repuke Party, Alan Novak.

66. Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama)
Edited on Mon Oct-20-03 06:59 AM by jsw_81
This neo-Confederate prick is one of the leaders of the American Taliban and would turn this country into a right-wing theocracy if he had the chance. I feel sick to my stomach whenever I see him on C-Span. He's an absolute disgrace.

71. Agree
But I still hate Kennedy worse for HIS problem with Civil Rights...He STILL refuses to include protections for TRANSGENDER people in ENDA, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act! At least we EXPECT crap from the Repukes where Civil Rights are concerned. I expect BETTER from Kennedy.

67. Mitch "Woodsy Owl" McConnell!
A real Wiseguy! $$$$$$$$$ Mitch is Bush's *itch! $$$$$$$$$$

There are about 54 Repubs in the senate that are repulsive and selfserving, but I believe Mitch is the worst of the worst! A true Corporate Drone!

74. Thank you Hubert!
Mitch the Bitch is easily at the top of my list, although there is a close race for second ... Mitch is just soooooo condescending, and he's such a lousy liar. I guess the fact that I lived in KY for a number of years helps too--I know the bastard better than some.

72. Can I vote for a "dishonorable mention"? John Cornyn of TX.
He's currently presiding over the hearings of the "Federal Marriage Amendment" before Congress. Also, a Karl Rove candidate.

Maybe I'm wrong on this one. What do the Texan DU'ers think of Cornyn(I hope I spelled his name correctly, BTW)?

73. Rick (The Prick) Santorum
In fact, I hate him far more than the entire Bush administration. I would even be willing to tolerate four more years of Bush if it meant that Santorum would be permanently ousted from the Senate.
