Speaker of FL House sued by Hayes Computers...they refuse private portal.
Byrd Coerced Computer Contractor

SNIP...."House Speaker Johnnie Byrd pressured a company hired to upgrade the chamber's computer systems to create a secure, private area within the network where he and his staff could track "political IOUs," court documents alleged"

The documents, part of a lawsuit filed by Hayes Computer Systems, claim Byrd threatened "through his lawyer and acting on behalf of the House" to withhold payment for the entire contract if Hayes engineers refused to comply with the private-site request and other changes in the original contract.

Byrds Friendly Computer Deal Turns Ugly

SNIP...."Before Jagged Peak stepped in, amendments to bills did not appear online. "The public was getting the wrong information," he said.

Hayes, represented by lobbyist J.M. "Mac" Stipanovich, was hired by Byrd's predecessor, Tom Feeney, and still has not been paid. Hayes says the House owes it $3-million. The firm stayed on the job until March, when it left and filed suit. Each side accuses the other of breaking the contract.

Jagged Peak was paid $10,000 a day for several months, totaling $1.5-million through June, according to testimony in a deposition by the company's chief executive, Paul Demirdjian....."END SNIP

Florida's Sunshine Laws, as well as just human decency, would forbid this "private portal."

1. Both of these repig assholes are real pieces of work
Tom Feeney helped re-district so he could create his very own district where he would sure to be elected and has written some real nasty provisions of several that take away your liberty. This asshole was the one who was going to have the fla legislature give the election to bush if gore won. And jonnie bird spent 600,000 dollars to set up his very own audio visual dept catering to him because he wants the senate seat held by Bob Graham. I wish nothing but ill will for these to Reich members

2. And Feeney is up to the same stuff in DC, we just don't know it.
He and Harris are probably rising stars.

3. More details about Byrd's special software/portal.
http://tampatrib.com/News/MGA1L249ULD.html

SNIP...."The secret portal, referred to variously by developers as the Decision Support System or ``promise keeper'' program, was designed to enable a select few senior House staff members to easily keep a thorough and readily accessible private log of each lawmaker's votes, political promises and ``promise details.''

The disclosures are contained within new documents introduced Wednesday in response to earlier claims by House attorneys that the company's assertions of a secure site where Byrd and his advisers could track ``political IOUs'' were ``unfounded and scandalous.'' Hayes Computer Systems of Tallahassee is suing the House for $2.9 million it claims it is owed for a revamp of the legislative chamber's computer network last year....."

They are denying it, even while the screen layouts are being shown. Hayes officials say it was fully functional when delivered.
