Clark the hero of PNAC during Kosovo War?
First, let's get this straight -- I am a total
Clark supporter and I am behind him 110%

Second, since he has decided to run at the behest
of the Draft Movement I think he has done
amazingly well campaigning and assembling a campaign
on the fly.

Third, I think the Right Wing talking points being
fronted by Shelton and Cohen are deleterious to our
democracy.

Fourth, I think if we go back to the Kosovo
War, we can see that Clark was actually being brave,
forthright, and damn determined to win. In numerous
accounts shown in the PNAC link below, it is
apparent that Cohen and Shelton were against
Clarks handling of the situation. It is even pointed
out that Shelton's antics jeopardized the perception
of American leadership in NATO if not NATO itself.

What does this show, since Clark won that war and
accomplished the mission? Basically Clark was right,
whilst Cohen and Shelton were wrong. Also it can be
seen that Clark was no Clinton general whereas Shelton
and Cohen's risk averse stance was more in line with
Clinton's political hedging.

To me, this is just a very good example of Clark's insight,
leadership, and boldness. It was seen at the time by
PNAC and it is obviously proven in retrospect given
that his ramping up pressure on Slobodon brought the
genocidal despot to his knees.

It also blows apart all of this "mealy mouthed,
wishy washy, yes man, Clinton puppet" right wing
talking point skullduggery
out of the water. Clark is anything but.

His character has had a shadow cast upon it by what appears
to be two malevolent actors not forthright enough to
say what they have against him. But now we know, it is
the bitterness of being proved wrong.

Personally, I am no fan of PNAC. But let the record
show that the right wing that now so strongly seeks
to debase him actually has shown respect for his
character, brilliance, and steadfastness.

Send the link to CNN, Time, NPR, NYT and let them
read for themselves who was right on Kosovo and who
was wrong.

Clark shouldn't be called on the carpet, rather it should
be Cohen and Shelton singled out for their shifty maneuverings.

I know it may seem paradoxical to try to convince anyone
on DU about a candidate using praise from PNAC but please
read between the lines.

1. I forget to say...
read all the articles. Everyone depicts
Clark's leadership skills and insight as impeccable.

Amazing how the right wing story changes when
he calls them on their BS and is threatening
to throw the real puppet out of the White House.

3. You got that right!
Nice work on Clark, my friend. Looks like Karl Rove & Co. are kicking it up a notch. (Sorry Emeril)

But seriously, can anyone in their coherent minds see anyone BUT Clark beating Bush? No one else has a shot. I know the Dean supporters disagree, but Dean cannot attract the broader base that is required to win the White House. Dean's not bringing in any Republican votes and he's only going to get a few indy votes at best. Heck, the GOP is praying that Dean wins the nomination. Why would you suppose that is? I sit here as a life long Dem and look at the big picture and think...Clark is the ONLY one in the Dem field that can trump the lie machine.

The Clark bashing issue is clearly indicative of the threat he poses to the right. Clark may be ill with no voice at the moment, but he has the heart of a lion and the Lion Will Roar!

Bone up on Dr. Karl Rovenstein. He's is currently experimenting with new ways to inflict torture.

Help us ObiWes Clark...you're our only hope!

2. RW Gearing Up Full Force Against Clark
I agree completely with your post. The same PNAC folks praised Clark and are trying to undermine him. If the media fairly reported the story, the public could make its own determination. It is up to Clark supporters to make sure the media gets the full story.

4. That stuff is fantastic
I'm truly amazed. I've only read a little of it but the stuff drips with praise of, and admiration for, Clark as a soldier.

5. Lieberman should watch his mouth so's he doesn't put his foot in it
“America’s great military strength, including particularly the precision air attack and special forces capabilities built up by President Clinton during the 1990s, and commanded so well by President Bush over the past year, has been stunningly impressive in this war to date.

— Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., Jan 14, 2002, Georgetown University lecture

“Our actions under President Bush’s strong leadership since September 11th have gone a long way toward forestalling this new iron curtain.”

— Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., Jan 14, 2002, Georgetown University lecture

“I strongly support President Bush's appointment of Governor Tom Ridge as Director of Homeland Security. The fact that Governor Ridge has President Bush's ear will make a very difficult job easier.”

— Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., Jan 15, 2002, University of Oklahoma

10. It was all a plot, I tell ya! A Conspiracy...
Here's how it played out.

The rightwing knew they were going to steal the 2000 election during the late 90s.

So they and PNAC told their boy Clark to win the Kosovo war for them, but they were going to pretend to be against it and they were going to pretend to not like Clark.

See, they knew that stealing the election in 2000 would bring them power but they wouldn't be able to retain it.

They carefully plotted Clark's victory in Kosovo and inserted him into the Democratic field JUST AS Bush's popularity was declining.

This was a way to make sure they had two boys on the ticket in '04.

The DLC had something to do with it though I haven't made that part up yet.

So did Bill Clinton. He's secretly PNAC. And Skull and Bones. He also passed Henry Kissinger in a hallway once.

He's tainted, man! It's all a plot.

12. I have gone on record as a rabid supporter of Clark...
Edited on Sun Oct-19-03 09:08 AM by wyldwolf
I was the first on DU to post information on the fued between Clark and the trio of Shelton, Cohen, and Admiral Smith that was the catalyst of their dislike of Clark.

Earlier this morning, I posted more on it.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=555825

It doesn't mean a thing to me whether or not PNAC admired Clark but I am well aware that the same contingent who loved him then hates him now.

I've seen the letters and link you gave on several occasions and it is important to note that MANY people on the military and Washington level admired Clark.

My first post is a shot at the ridiculous conspiratorial tone some on the left take with Clark.

In other words, extreme sarcasm.

It wasn't meant to detract at all from the points you've made, which are all very good! :)
