OMG. Literally.
Edited on Wed Dec-07-05 07:32 PM by linazelle
I have been listening to Wisconsin Christian Radio for several days (for wont of anything better to do since I cancelled my Sirius subscription). It's been eye opening to say the least.

The "personality" cited scripture which stated that nations would fall if they are divided and not united under Christ.

Then this scripture was read: "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters."--Matthew 12:30 :wow:

Hearing that, I was astonished. It was almost word for word what BOOSH said when he invaded Iraq: "You're either with us or against us." Most of us remember that Bush claimed that God told him to invade the Middle East but this obvious plagiarism proves that rumor true IMHO. Seems he not only follows the word of God, he really thinks he IS God.

As for Wisconsin Christian Radio, it's a real pukefest. Today's topics: Gay marriage shot down by state legislature; illegal immigration editorial by Phyllis Schlafly claims Bush is pulling a bait-and-switch scheme and ignoring calls to lock the borders; and fossilized catfish found in a lake somewhere prove that the fish were killed by a sudden flood and therefore did not disintegrate as would have happened normally--therefore, evolution is a farce. :eyes:

So we not only have political media to fight against, but also religious media with a political agenda and a megalomaniac in the White House. Amazing.

1. Welcome to my world.
This is the way I was raised. This is the way many in my community believe. (And they think I'm the crazy one.)

15. My condolences...
I too had some harsh religious experiences at a tender age.

We both know that the Grand Canyon is an artifact of the great flood's water receeding.

4. Do some Googling and you'll find...
...lots of eye-opening articles on the constant stream of embedded evangelical code words and buzz phrases in *'s formal speeches. F'rinstance, Google the phrase "wonder working power" and "bush" and "speech".

The Boy Messiah is talking to his "Christian" base in a way the rest of us never notice.

5. Oy
I haven't heard any religious stations except two here and a religious music station. One is just sermons that preachers talk about and than the music of course on the other one. I remember one week I was trying to find my local progressive station and landed upon a conservative station that I think was religious and one guy was stating how we need and people want the debate about Roe V Wade. Uh last time I looked 60-70% of the country was for keeping it. :eyes: It's like a whole nother world with these people. And the Bible is for your personal life. Hence why it's a belief system.

6. Here's an alternative.
If you have a sound card and speakers that is. Find www.kser.org. Stream it. Independent public radio in western Washington state. You'll like it!
:)

14. I gotta brush up on my Jesus politics
Edited on Wed Dec-07-05 08:36 PM by ismnotwasm
But I'm pretty sure he was a renegade, a rebel, kind of a anarchist who was killed by the government who he pissed off. There was certainly unrest at the time.
I always look at scriptures with my secular eye, and it seems to me the political winds that were, blowin' in Jesus's time-- Lets see, the part bush would have played would have been Pontius Pilate, probably. Only he would have put him to death immediately and definitely wouldn't have washed his hands the dirty bastard.

16. It's a parallel world
I make trips in my car frequently, and in the boonies, the only radio stations I can get are the Christian stations, and RW talk radio (don't have satellite radio. yet.) And, I'm telling you guys, it is a whole different world than we are used to. I now realize how people who are exposed to that crap all of their lives get the way they are. Take just one day and watch the Christian channel on TV, just as an experiment. Then imagine your whole awareness and all of your experiences and all the people with whom you associate, being set in that kind of world.

The divide between those on the far right and we far-lefties is just enormous. The two groups don't come from the same place; we don't have the same frames of reference about anything. It's as if the two groups are two different species entirely...or from two different planets. There is no winning those people over, there is no reasoning, there is no assimilation possible. It's a gulf that will just get wider and wider. They live in a parallel world that is just as real to them-- as ours is to us.

I find it frightening.
