Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?
The treadmill, and poorhouses are they not in operation?
How long before these venerable institutions make their return?
After reading the ruling against a disabled man with ancient student loans, it's just a real kick in the head we blow seven billion in Iraq in a month, we bailed out the savings and loans to the tune of 500 billion, how long before we're being bundled off to extract the pound of flesh that the rich need to stay warm.
Jeez this just sucks.
We're cutting the social safety net to shreds, heating aid, food aid, the meals on wheels program here in Missouri was just cut, so now people who depend on this program now will no longer get weekend meals.
I can't take much more of these assholes just how fucking much do they want?

3. They want it all, of course
and they sincerely think this would be a perfect world if the rest of us died off and left them owning everything.

Of course, they never think about where their shoes came from, or their electricity, or even the food on their plates. Most of them think as little as possible, and are concerned only with making their immediate place as pleasant as possible, and they hate it when the reality of how the rest of us are being forced to live intrudes upon them.

It's been my great misfortune to have met a few of them. They're affable but utterly clueless, and this makes them our deadly enemy.

5. That's it Warpy
They want it all, as soon as they're through kicking the weak and defenseless, they turn on the next group.
The next group won't believe that they're in line though.

16. So much for "capitalism increases competition"
It's not an accident we don't hear that argument very often anymore.
It is because it has been clear for quite some time now that it doesn't work out that way.

7. I just heard today that if...
you can't pay for your student loans, the government can now take your social security.

10. Just the latest step toward our utopia. Where those born into the
'right' houses can live a life of leisure, where their every wish and whim is instantly translated into their reality. Won't it be just great?

8. What about child support?
Can they touch your SS disability if you're behind on child support payments?

9. Lots of fine old traditions could come back
Indigent laws. Orphanages. Sweatshops. Chain gangs.

I've heard all of these things advocated by conservatives at one time or another.

They claim that they want to bring America back to where it was in the '50's.

The 1850's.

11. This part of the Xmas Carol must be censored nowadays...
"This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased."--The Ghost of Xmas Present

Ignorance? "Intelligent" Design, anyone?

12. My favorite part
Have you noticed they aren't showing a christmas tale as much as they used to? We get that sappy feel good on turner, but the real gritty in your face versions have been put away somewhere.

14. Do you have a link to the disabled-man story? I have written about...
these sorts of atrocities myself -- they are more common than we imagine -- and would like to know more about this case. Thank you.
