Rice Compares Work to Love

KIEV, Ukraine -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told university students Wednesday that finding one's ideal major in college or the perfect life's work is like falling in love.

Rice struck an easygoing, sometimes jocular tone with an audience of mostly English-speaking students at Shevchenko University in the Ukrainian capital. She told a story about going off to college intent on studying to be a concert pianist but finding herself seduced by the study of the Soviet Union.

"I don't have any Russian blood that I know of. I had never been to the Soviet Union at that time and yet I became very, very interested in it," Rice said. "It's a little bit like love. You can't explain why it happens to you."

She advised the students, "Find what it is you love. Find what it is you're just interested in because you're interested in it and you'll be better at doing it."

2. What a sad and loney life she must have....
I love my job, but it in no way replaces my hubby and kids. I hope that maybe I've misunderstood her analogy.

6. the aspens will already be turning. They turn in clusters
Out West, where you vacation, the aspens will already be turning. They turn in clusters, because their roots connect them. Come back to work -- and life.

7. Aaaaarghh!
One of my bosses a few years ago, when informing me that our raises would once again be about 1% and our bonuses would be nonexistent, tried to placate me by telling me that "enjoying your work is the most important thing."

Holy shit! I wish that I lived in a world where "enjoying your work is the most important thing." I live in a world where a paycheck can actually meet the cost of living.

Fuck the good Dr. Rice and her idiotic ivory tower perspective. I don't need some millionaire whore telling me how great it is to have to work for a living.

10. Condi doesn't know anything about love -
She probably wonders about it, as she lays in her bed at night, trying to go to sleep. She stares at the ceiling and thinks about it.

To Condi, Love is a pair of Ferragamo Shoes for $3,000.00. Or maybe a Gianfranco Ferre cocktail dress for $7,500.00. There's always Scavullo.

She'll never know, though.

Here's what Love COULD have been for Condi: helping her brothers and sisters in Alabama, while the floodwaters were rising. As elderly black people struggled for their lives, she could have gone down there, or harassed that ASS "Brownie" to do something. She could have saved some of those peoples' lives, and no doubt some of them were her relatives.
