AIPAC Blasts Bush on Handling of Iran

As time dwindles for diplomatic efforts to curtail Iran's drive for nuclear weapons, the pro-Israel lobby in Washington is criticizing the Bush administration's handling of the issue.

...

"We're prepared to see if the Russians can explore something that may bring the Iranians around to the recognition that they cannot enrich and reprocess on their territory, that they have a credibility problem with the international community as to the fuel cycle," Rice told USA Today earlier this month. "We'll see whether it works."

Within days of Rice's interview, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee delivered a rare public criticism of the Bush administration.

"Last week's decision allowed Iran to win a critical round in its game of cat-and-mouse with the international community," AIPAC said in an e-mail earlier this week headlined "IMPORTANT - AIPAC press statement critical of Administration's recent decisions on Iran policy."

This scares me...

2. You know, my first response upon reading that title was almost the same:
I was going to say something like: "AIPAC scolds Bush administration over their slowness in bringing about WWIII." (I debated whether it should be "slowness" or "unwillingness," but since Bush has been so willing thus far...

3. From this, I would guess that AIPAC isn't too concerned that...
... the masterminds of this campaign of theirs are under indictment....

Let's just put this as plainly as possible. Israel's several hundred nuclear weapons and its refusal to join the NNPT and allow inspections is the destabilizing force in the region with regard to nuclear weapons proliferation.

It takes a whole lot of chutzpah to be complaining about this at this time. These guys know perfectly well what they're trying to do. They're trying to bully the administration into doing something that is wholly inadvisable.

11. Nice!
After spying on us and joining in cahoots with the neocons to promote a 3 pronged war (Iraq, Syria, Iran) we're not jumping through hoops fast enough for them anymore and they're calling our bluff with Russia. Good luck to them. They're going to have a hard row to hoe convincing Russia that Israel should trump up an excuse to bomb Iran and for Russia to come in as the back-up as those suckers in the WH seem to be pulling away from neo dreams of conquering the ME.
