apparently the American Revolution was all in vain.
all those who fought and died against tyranny so many years ago have died in vain, cause here we are in the 21st century, living under the worst tyrant since king george.

what a shame.

1. You're correct.
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

4. That's what I've been saying
Power is what power is. Be it in the 10th century, 18th century, or 21st century. It was bound to happen, and those revolutionaries knew it. That's why they tried to create checks and balances to power, but power eventually wins out.

5. "power eventually wins out" - so true.
But in the case of the US, power was given a helping hand from ignorance and greed and apathy. These are the real "four horsemen"...

6. for a long time i've wondered why the founding fathers didn't go with a...
...parliamentary system if they really wanted power to be more democratically shared.

we elect our presidents by proxy, the electoral college. that ONE man has incredible power concentrated in the oval office. sure there's checks and balances, but now we know how weak that safety net is against greedy and ambitious tyrants.

sometimes, i wonder if the founding fathers were really just a bunch of elitists who didn't necessarily believe in civil liberties and freedom for all. but how else could they persuade the common folk to pick-up arms and fight for a few rich, white men, who were really just pissed-off about england not respecting them properly.

do you think we would have had a revolution if colonial plantation owners were considered equal members in parliament?

so in a way, i guess we can blame the founding fathers for our king george dubya.

7. I have to think there were a few (many?) that were worse.
In fact, I know so.

I'm not happy with the Administration at all, but perhaps this is a bit of hyperbole?
