How far are we from 'Nam?
4 soldiers dead yesterday, 3 more today... is it just me or are more and more of our men dying literally every day?

I was actually hesitant before. I wasn't sure if this would become another 'Nam. But... well, here we are. This doesn't look like it's getting better, this looks like the casualties are getting worse. If things were all roses like the administration keeps telling us to believe, would we be begging for troops from the U.N.?

How long did it take before 'Nam became the quagmire it was?

This is more like the West Bank, or the Algerian War for independence.

I read somewhere that Americans didn't give two hoots about Vietnam until about 1967 or so.

Additionally there are numerous studies that show that Americans perception of military success and failure has less to do with casualities and more to do with a sense of mission and exit strategy.

Look at Somalia, what was it 18 dead(from Blackhawk down not other)? and the whole operation was shutdown.

3. We've already went beyond Vietnam.
In the first six months of the Iraq occupation, we have lost more soldiers than the first two years of Vietnam.
