$70 million on Ken Starr investigating Clinton
Wasn't that the amount for the Whitewater/Lewinsky investigations?

Question: How much has been spent on the 9/11 Comission investigation?
I heard $3 million.

If that is the case then where the hell are the Republican priorities and why aren't the Dems pointing this out?

1. that's a very good point
Years ago I checked into it and found some good recaps of the cost on the CBS News site. At that time they said more costs would be coming in and it was then around 60 million.

2. Why aren't the dems pointing this out?
So many crimes, so much to "point at" that there's apparently not enough time in the day to get to all of it. Soon, the Repugs will be reduced to trotting out their lesser crimes as spinnable news just to distract us from the larger ones.

Good point SHRED especially in light of the "D's" and "F's" handed out today.

3. Don't you know that Repukes think oral sex is ten times more
evil than killing thousands of people?

I mean, an ORGASM was possibly involved!!!!!!!!! Starr had to track that puppy DOWN. We can't be having orgasms in America!!!!!!!!Starr's mommy told him orgasms are the Devil.

Sex is a hideous sin; murder is just a way to do bidness, SHRED!

4. Dems are either stupid, spineless, sold out, or all of the above.

What am I supposed to say? Too many organizations gave * a warning long before the attacks happened... an inquiry IS in order.

Good call on the financial comparison, BTW.

5. $70 Million on a blowjob?
$70 million on a blowjob? I'm no fan of the Clintons but if this figure is accurate its ridiculous & obscene. To say nothing of lying about a blowjob is apparently meritorious of formal impeachment proceedings but the war, lies, deceit and corruption of the Bush administration gets a free pass, with nary an impeachment cloud in the sky? That $70 million could be spent very effectively on body armor for our soldiers in Iraq, who are dying for lack of it. What a disgrace that their families have to pay out of their own pockets and ship it over to Iraq. Come to think of it, $70 million would buy an awful lot of bullet-proof vests for cops right here at home, or feed an awful lot of hungry, homeless people.

7. not to mention the obsession
The representative bodies were obsessed with the case. They tied up the judicial system and the airwaves with it. No, they couldn't be paying any attention to admonitions from people like Gore, who had headed up committees and written about the threat of terrorism.

Meanwhile, trouble was indeed brewing. We found that out on 9/11.

If you or I had such a lack of priorities on our jobs, we would be fired for it. But not these people. They're busy rewarding themselves with additional pay, courtesy of our tax dollars.

9. No, $70 million for whatever they could find.

Without limitations. If one shot in the dark didn't work they were allowed to simply keep taking shots until they hit something. That's how our justice system is supposed to work. :sarcasm:

(I wanted Clinton to lie to the cocksuckers and have no regrets that he did. It was none of their business or mine and the country would have been better off skipping that ridiculous chapter.)

6. repukes don't care about money. they have more than they can spend
they care about power. That's all its ever about. If they can't win at the ballot box, they steal the ballot box. They will lie, cheat and steal for power. The fool DLC thinks they can deal with 'moderate' repukes. Horseshit.
The repukes would have spent $170,000,000 if that would have gotten them closer to power.

8. It was just under $80 million
Edited on Tue Dec-06-05 06:50 AM by Tactical Progressive
by the time it was all over. $79 million I think.

The biggest crime in all of that is that it wasn't Clinton who did wrong. It was the now-despicable Republican party who abused the law any number of ways - from recruiting a phony Paula Jones lawsuit, to soliciting false testimony from corrupt ex-state troopers, to putting in their own corrupt judges, to the Supreme Crooks making an exception to let Clinton face charges while President, to using illegal wiretap information from Linda Tripp, to Starr's blatant abuse of power against innocents, to his office's many planned illegal leaks, to ultimately the horrific abuse of the Constitutional powers of impeachment. It was Republican depravity all down the line. It was Republicans who did wrong against Clinton and America in huge ways.

And of course the media, who flushed the integrity of their entire profession down the toilet without a second thought.

That $80 million dollars may represent an unethical assault on America by Republicans and the right-wing 'mainstream' media. But perhaps it isn't so much, to let people finally see what these monsters are really all about.
