Washington Post Profile on Wesley Clark
OK, after this no more flooding the zone with pro-Clark agitprop. But, first, the Washington Post profile on Gen. Clark. The Post has done one on each of the candidates; all of them were, I think, informative and broadly sympathetic. A good series.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A45166-2003Oct18.html

"When I went to Vietnam . . . there were people in the streets. They had a right to express their disagreement with that war, and millions did," Clark thundered at an Austin park. "People had a right to protest . . . and I knew in Vietnam I was fighting for that right."

...

Some allies attribute Clark's problems to simple jealousies. Clark was an unusual breed of soldier, they said, an extraordinary intellect in a good ol' boy culture. "Wes was just a bit too smart and too pretty for Army infantry," retired Gen. Barry R. McCaffrey said.

...

A very good profile of President Clark.

1. Thanks for the post on General Clark
I'm glad the Washington Post got his profile out. I'm sure each of us finds the good things in our own candidate. Lets also try to find the good things in other Democratic Candidates. We need to bring every one together after the nomination. Regardless of the outcome we must all back the Democratic ticket in 2004.

2. Absolutely
One of the nice things about the front-loaded primary, is that it gives us all a chance to cool down, stop talking trash about other candidates, and refocus our energy.

3. Doesn't he kind of seem like a classic case of hubris?
The one thing I always hear about clark is "ambition." Obviously anyone running for President must be ambitious, but one can have too much of a good thing.

4. Yea, We wouldn't want a President with
Drive, ambition, stellar lifetime achievements, valor and guts. An intelligent self-made man, lifetime servant scholar who loves his country at the helm might be more than we can bare!

9. No, because his ambition has always been in service to others
That is anathema to hubris. Compare that to someone like Donald Trump, whose ambition was to accumulate personal wealth--the difference is like night and day.
