Mondale says Condoleezza Rice is restoring balance to the White House
Mondale is growing increasingly impressed by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and believes she is steering the Bush administration toward more cooperative relations with other countries.

I think the neo-cons have lost. They're not out of there completely yet, but you don't hear much about them any more. I think Condoleezza Rice is moving away some from the old neo-con line and restoring some balance. So maybe we're moving in the right direction. I hope so.

I think Rice is heading the State Department in a sounder, safer way. The more I watch her, the more I think she knows exactly what she's doing.

1. You gotta read the entire interview
Mondale makes some very good observations about Cheney, but I do disagree with him on Condi.

4. Pfffft. Sounds like Mondale actually making a suggestion to Rice,
not describing reality. Rice is the adminstration hack, as shown by her telling Europe to mind it's own business about the rendition flights and prisions in their country.

5. IOW Powell was 'all chaff and no substance'
When it comes to playing the inside politics. Or better yet, he is only effective and strong where it affects his self interest. And Condi is as devious as they come - prepared to connive her way to the top. Wow - good lessons to learn from those two!

6. They're all bad - some are worse
Let's not get into a "she's not so bad, give her chance" mode. She's awful. Just like the others.
Perhaps not quite the psychotic that cheney is, but bad nonetheless.
She had her chance to flip and come clean on Iraq - didn't do it.
...and let's forget her award-winning performance on Broadway during Katrina - buying Ferragammo's (whatever) as the waters rose.

7. I'm a little let down. I feel she is first and foremost a dangerous liar.
I've been saying that Cheney and Rumsfeld are the real Presidents. Am I now supposed to say that Ms Rice is the real President?

If George thinks that Dick and Don are selling out George's legacy because of Dick and Don's mistakes, it means that George who demands the ultimate loyalty is not being loyal.

So the real Presidents are Condi, Karen, Laura, and Barb?

We have so much fun with this administration while the world suffers.

I wish I understood Mondale on this call. Her hands aren't on the wheel as far as I can see. She is still the Secretary of Lies and Propaganda from what I've heard her say. But, Mondale knows more than I do.
