1. No, it is one of those great mysteries.

Everyone has a Jimmy Hoffa story. here's mine.

I lived in Pontiac Michigan. I had a friend who managed the landfill. It was not the friendliest place because the mob controlled trash pickup. My friend directed when and where trash was dumped. He knew what went where and when.

The morning after Hoffa disappeared he noted that during the night some machinery had moved, and a ravine was filled. He knew it would be dangerous to report what he observed, so he let it pass.

the eating establishment where he went missing had a super incinderator built out back a few weeks before the disappearance.

2. Does anyone know the last place Hoffa was seen?

I have a friend from Uttica, NY. Evidenty this is the headquarters for the teamsters. He "jokingly" says that Hoffa is burried in a swamp near Uttica.

MSchreader and my college newspaper advisor was the reporter on the Detroit News who was originally handed the Hoffa story. She'd been on it for a month or so when she got a late night phone call saying, roughly, "Ya got some cute kids -- be a real shame if anything happened to 'em." And so Delta College wound up with an excellent journalism teacher
The old rumor was that Hoffa got buried in the footings of Giants Stadium in New Jersey. But, truth is, the Silverdome (the Lions' old home) was under construction just as Jimmy disappeared -- and is only five miles or so from the Red Fox.
Also, this site that the cops were digging up Wednesday is only 15 miles or so from where I live (in fact, my brother Chuck was a policeman (1977-78) in Hampton Township, which is just east of Bay City, MI and more than 100 miles from the site of the disappearance).
Authorities say they were looking for a briefcase -- something I doubt would survive 28 years of burial, anyhow.
