5. Republicans understand the purpose of political parties..

A political campaign is organized to elect a candidate supporting a certain agenda. A political party exists to organize voters with similar objectives into a successful team. Political parties also exist to settle disputes between candidates supporting the same ideals, before they breakout into suicidal battles which only help the opposition.

Instead of attacking Democrats now running for office, why doesn't our party spend more time recruiting candidates in states and Congressional districts which Republican incumbents have no opposition? As someone who lives in a Congressional district with an unopposed Republican, and in a state controlled by Republicans..I find disputes between Weicker supporters and Lieberman backers..or between Hillary and Warner supporters just a little discouraging!

Can't we do better than this? Until our party plays an active role in recruiting progressive candidates to run against unopposed Republicans and voters to work on those campaigns, our party will be nothing more than a mindless switchblade match between people with comman objectives.

Wouldn't be as easy to unite all people, then to unite 1/2 of the people against the other half?

You have a population that, if united, would demand things that are counter to your interests. What do you do? You stroke the fires of division to keep them occupied on matters you can exploit, like race, religion, sex, so they don't come together and demand the things you don't want them to.
