Chimp's people: Jury summons got "lost in the mail" at the ranch
I'll have to remember THAT excuse next time I get one in the mail.."but, but it must have gotten lost...George's did, remember????" Translation for the excuse "crap, the public found out about it.."

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/3497626.html

A summons for him to show up Monday was sent to his Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford last month, but apparently got lost in the shuffle.

"You can imagine the volume of mail that gets addressed to him out there," said an understanding state District Judge Ralph Strother, a Republican first appointed to the bench by Bush himself.

Strother said a White House aide who called to reschedule Bush's appearance asked for assurances that the court grants such favors to ordinary citizens as well. It does.

"As a practical matter, I'd be surprised if it ever happens, but I'm not about to tell the president that he can't serve on a jury if he wants to appear," Strother said. The White House can pick a date when the president might not be too otherwise occupied: Jan. 30, March 6, April 10, May 15 or June 19.

1. I thought he could do everything in Crawford that he can do in DC

If they can't even get their mail there who knows what else they're missing out on. Maybe that's why Bush is so out of touch with reality

Check this out:
Called before, but excused
As governor, Bush was called in a drunken driving case but was excused when Alberto Gonzales, then Bush's general counsel, argued that the governor's power to pardon posed a conflict of interest. Gonzales now is the nation's attorney general.

Southern Methodist University political scientist Cal Jillson predicted Bush would never survive the jury selection process because he'd be a prosecutor's dream juror, meaning a defense attorney likely would strike him from the panel.

"Prosecutors would like him a lot because his sense of justice is run them to the ground, don't be too squeamish about interrogation techniques (and) hang them high," he said.
:puke:

Nevermind the fact that he's a drunk and was caught doing the same thing

2. He won't show unless it's a death penalty case
How many 21st century people have more blood on their hands than George W. Bush? I'll bet he misses being an active participant in "Texas Justice".

3. Hell, don't put him on a jury to judge me, I'd rather confess!

twit. There is no excuse for avoiding jury duty. I wonder if "lost in the mail" would work for any of us. You know, I do get a lot of junk mail also. On the other hand, if he were on a jury judging me, I'd confess, even if I didn't do it.

Edited to add this from the article, snort.
AUSTIN - As if leading a superpower and fighting a war don't keep him busy enough, George W. Bush now has to report for jury duty.

Juror No. 286, as the president of the United States is called, has indicated he plans to appear for jury selection sometime next year in Waco.
