The things that can kill a Republic or even a Democracy
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 10:47 AM by ck4829
Corruption - The staple of dying governments. Corruption means there are Governing Forces that do not care about their Republic and think they can simply bail when it all goes sour.

Ultra-Conservatism - Too much Conservatism means the government will not move ahead, it corrodes from the inside out. This corrosion happens for a variety of reasons. Scientific progress is rejected, an emphasis is put on tradition, and it leads to next Republicidal act.

Opposition to Reform - Because of the Ultra-Conservatism, necessary reforms will constantly be rejected.

Letting Criminals off the hook - The Justice System becomes crippled. How this happens varies based on the nation. The Roman Senate would protect War Criminals, the United States goes easy on White Collar Criminals.

Bad Economy - A Bad Economy will help destroy a government. It's pretty obvious.

Over-Divisiveness - A schism in the Governing Force means that the people aren't as represented as good as they should be.

Terrorism or fears of Terrorism - This will 'force' the People in a nation to give up rights and freedoms for 'security'.

What will happen after these things happen:

Civil War

Coup

Coup with Foreign Help

1. You forgot....
a well crafted plan to create a New World Order. This pesky middle class here in America that erupted on the Elite after WW2 must be killed off. It is making things difficult to create a one world government.

3. Well welcome to america of 2005
We have all of these things going on right now in america and worse. Our judicial system has been corrupted by politics and plea bargain for speedy non trails. case after case gets pushed through the system by plea bargains and poor people are charged then convicted without due process. On top of that public defenders will scare clients into accepting plea bargains by telling them they can't win their case. Judges intimidate defendants into accepting plea bargains by telling defendants that they will receive harsher sentences if they won't take the plea, plus added charges will then be used against them. We have two justice systems in america, one for the rich and one for the poor, the poor are more likely to serve longer sentences then the rich. Plus in certain cases, the rich walk away free from the same crimes that the poor will be convicted of, ie... The Michael Jackson case and the R Kelly case both had more evidence then most child molestation cases of the poor and they were found innocent. Often the poor person accused of molestation only has the word of the child to be convicted of the crime, usually these are plea bargained out. We no longer have an equal justice system nor school system. Why are poor kids less likely to get a good education then a rich kid? The list is endless on how there are class injustices going on and its largely ignored because we the people refuse to admit whats going on under our noses.

4. Justice for profit is one of the most corrosive forces destroying
our nation today. We'll never get rid of it as long as we let lawyer make the laws.
Is equal lack of opportunity an amerikan value?
