Bush Called for Jury Duty in Texas
Other people have plenty to attend to as well (called jobs), but that doesn't stop their jury duty.

Bush Called for Jury Duty in Texas

By Associated Press
Published December 1, 2005, 12:44 PM CST

WACO, Texas -- President Bush could get a new title: juror No. 286. Someday, but not Monday, when he was summoned for jury duty.

The president was among 600 potential jurors summoned to report to court in McLennan County, where his 1,600-acre Crawford ranch is located.

State District Judge Ralph Strother told the Waco Tribune-Herald he expected to get a response about the summons but didn't expect Bush to report for duty.

"I don't think I'll be sending the sheriff out to bring the president in," said Strother, a Republican who has a grandson serving in Iraq. "It seems to me that the president has plenty of things to occupy his attention. Jury duty is a very important civic function, but running the country, I think, especially in wartime, takes priority over jury service."

7. In all my forty some years on this earth, I have never heard
of a president called for jury duty. It is a slimy political maneuver to make brush look like the every day man. Doesn't work for me Judge. Try something else.

9. Even if it's occurred, I doubt anyone made such a deal out of it.
I think you are spot on with your assessment.

10. Hey, I've been around since the FDR days and I've never heard
of it. Lou Dobbs thought that it was worthy news.

4. A Question For Any DU Lawyers Out There
During voir dier (spelling?) aren't the potential jurors questioned under oath?

Can you imagine any of the moron's handlers allowing him to answer un-scripted questions under oath? That precedent in & of itself would make any neo-con cringe!

They WILL weasel out of it, the only question is the excuse. Remember when Breyer actually showed up?

5. Funny. Is he trying to upstage Kerry?
Kerry was made jury Foreman during his recent jury duty, and fellow jury members, who were admitted rethugs, openly spoke of how smart and likable he was. Maybe this story was read to the chimp, and he said "git me in one a dem thar' juries". I know this is a silly theory, because his handlers will most certainly not allow him to make a fool of himself in this setting, but it popped in my head as soon as I heard this.

6. Time???? Seems to me that Bush has plenty of time!!!!
Between taking naps and clearing brush. He should serve as a juror!!!

Forefeit whatever he earns during that period of time from stocks, kick- backs, etc.

12. He won't and can't show up. He would have to answer this question
"Have you ever been arrested and/or convicted of a crime?"
