'Christian' leader rejoices: HE drove Target stock down 7% on Xmas BOYCOTT
Nov 30, 2005
By Erin Curry
Baptist Press

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--An endeavor to send Target and other major retail chains a message is being considered a success by Christians who took offense at the store’s refusal to allow the phrase “Merry Christmas” to be used in their in-store promotions and retail advertising this year.

The American Family Association launched a boycott against Target Nov. 18, asking Americans to refrain from shopping at the popular discount store during Thanksgiving -- the biggest stopping weekend of the year.

Within three days of the launch, nearly 300,000 people had signed a petition online at www.afa.net, saying they would stand up to Target and not purchase items at the store, which last year made a controversial decision not to allow Salvation Army kettles to be placed outside the front door....

Don "Wildman" Wildmon

Don Wildmon, president of AFA, noted in a letter on the organization’s website that Target’s stock dropped 7 percent in November, and he credited Christians who were offended by store’s dismissal of Christmas as having something to do with the change.

2. Just goes to show
How powerful irrational religious people can be.
Weep for humanity; unless we can move in, we're screwed.

3. Target is blood-red, but I'd shop there just to counter Wild Man
These Christian Fundy Fuckers are far more dangerous than even the crazy right-wing "mainstream" republicans Target supports. I have not stepped foot in a Target store since November, 2004, and have no plans to do so any time soon. But if buying a cheap Chinese DVD player for my kid could somehow be a stick in the eye of this nutbag Wildman, I'd buy half a dozen of 'em.

12. When it comes to
Walmart and Target I go to Target first. They have better clothing (the company is soooo comfortable oh gosh) and the people there are sooo much nicer and help you out better etc.

4. He's forgetting about the people boycotting Target due to their
pharm policies, where a pharmacist can refuse to fill a prescription due to personal reasons.

5. Do these freaks just NATURALLY have stupid facial poses or what?
I mean look at this Wildman Wildmon? WTF? You know, I've never seen one of these creeps that looked like a normal person, they're always pulling weird faces...Junior and the Dickhead included.

I guess that old saying is true, that if you keep pulling that face, then your face is going to stick like that.

This whole Christmas thing, is just getting too way out for me.

All I care about is that I'm GUTTED that there's no Santa Claus

9. It's the just scrubbed face look,
with the pink skin and rosy cheeks and the fanatical eyes with the pleased-with-himself expression on his puffy face. It is the face that the religiously fanatical wear. The Jesus described in the bible didn't much like that type either. He seemed to prefer the poor and the humble.

13. Exactly
Jesus wouldn't associate with these freaks...he'd be running a mile to get away from them.

Thankfully, we do understand this...and the Fundies don't.

11. Religionists are liars. Without lies, they have nothing to peddle.
But you'd think they'd at least have the feeble sense to check the newswires -- which everyone else can see -- before claiming a store's sales were down.

14. they should have been helping out the......
Salvation Army, Christmas Kettle drive is down 4% so far this year. Mostly it is attributed to donor fatigue, from all the natural disasters this year. Just goes to show you they aren't Christian at all.
