DU was anti-war when "anti-war" wasn't cool...
Remember when we were the 10% minority that were anti-war and anti-Bush. But, we hung tough. we never gave up. And now it appears we are actually in the majority. No matter what Limbaugh might think or say about us. Keep your powder dry.

1. We've been right about everything
I truly wish we weren't and the war was a good thing and they threw flowers and not bombs at our troops and the tax cuts worked and the economy was booming. It never added up and we knew it from the start.

2. "The whole world thought Saddam had WMD's"
I never once saw that sentiment here. Go figure.

4. I am still so outraged and sickened by "shock and awe"....
...I have nightmares about "Shock and Awe."

I felt as if I was watching a nightmare from hell.

We were supposedly in Iraq for two reasons: 1.) To rid Iraq of Saddam; 2.) To locate the WMD.

I sat there watching "Shock and Awe" as the media lapped it up and treated this horrific violence as if this was a video game. I was mortified.

I kept thinking....how do all of these bombs (and we now know that 10,000 were dropped on Baghdad during "shock and awe") accomplish 1 or 2? You don't need thousands of bombs to oust one man! You can't find WMD with thousands of bombs. what are we doing?????

I will always be haunted by that. I was just sick to my stomach. I knew innocents were dying, as our media hung out on balconies--so proud of the American firepower. It was so sick. Just so revolting and evil.

To oust one man and to find WMD we dropped 10,000 bombs and killed untold innocents.

It didn't make sense then. It doesn't make sense now.

...and my stomach ache is back. :(

5. I wasn't here yet but I was anti-war as well.

Today, sorting and boxing snapshots, I found one of our counter inaugural march in L.A. in 2001.

Hail to the Thief! We knew what to expect from these maniacs even then.

Powder dry, check.

6. We had our signs that said "Say No To War With Iraq" stolen from the yard
and nasty note left in our mailbox. I often wonder if the person who stole them has any regrets. It isn't like the information out there is new. Just that it is finally making the news. That is the real pisser about it all.

7. I'm a late comer but I seen through bush* bastard from day one
I think he stole the election from Ann Richards, way back when. every since I have found DU and started reading a little here a little there I have a lot of respect for you all, I often wonder if the Admins even had a clue what they were creating while creating DU. I would like to read the story of how DU became. If you know how to ask the question it will be answered here.

8. How I wish I'd found you back in the day...
I can't tell you how lonely it was to be anti-war and anti-Bush in a very red county of a very red state in 2003-2004.

I'm glad I finally found you all, though.
