The DCCC is making me angry
For the way they are treating Christine Cegelis and trying to find another candidate. She got 44% last year on her own and with very little money. I think this is the perfect time for grassroots to get behind Christine and give the support she needs. Rahm Emanuel shouldn't be playing these games with a seat that could be a pickup for us by undermining the candidate who has an electorate and could only need a swing of 7%.

1. I don't know if I trust Rahm
It doesn't seem like he has been as tough as Schumer in working to take back Congress,

2. I don't doubt he wants to win
Rahm is more determined than anyone to win Congress and I'm very glad he's heading the campaign, but I think he's wrong on this one here.

3. yes me too
The DCCC is putting all its power behind a total unknown who technically does not live in the district and who has not made her views known. Cegelis took the fight to Hyde last year with little funding. She has already been campaigning for 2006. She is clearly progessive and anti-war. Shes a slamdunk no brainer to support. Instead the DCCC goes around looking for someone else. Why?

4. Time for Emanuel to support Cegelis in 6th
"Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) should quit playing games and support Christine Cegelis for Congress. Cegelis is running for the second time for Henry Hyde's seat in the suburban 6th District that includes northeast DuPage County and northwest Cook County.

As Sun-Times columnist Lynn Sweet reported, Emanuel courted Army Major "Tammy" Duckworth to run as the Democratic candidate. He cynically believes that people will vote for her just because she is a wounded veteran of the Iraq War. She has no political platform and no indigenous campaign organization. She is still undergoing physical therapy for her war injuries and she had to get permission from the military to run. She will leave active duty on Dec. 1 to do so."

snip

"In comparison to Duckworth and Scott, who have never run for office before, Cegelis received 44.2 percent of the vote in 2004 against long-term Republican incumbent Hyde. Her election would revolutionize suburban politics by making elections between Democrats and Republicans competitive."
