WASHINGTON, Dec. 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following is an Op- Ed by Bill Wilson, KIN senior analyst:

Bible Curriculum Demonstrates Public Schools Are End Time Battleground

By Bill Wilson, KIN senior analyst

Some say it's the start of teaching a one world religion, others say it's a harmless elective for high school students, but beginning next year, public schools will be offered a Bible curriculum developed under the influence of people who believe the needs of the citizenry should be subservient to the state, and whose standards are endorsed by such liberal organizations as the National Education Association and the National Association of Evangelicals.

First, Cuddy says, the BLP's textbook does not have a complete curriculum; second, he believes there are factual errors in the presentation of the Bible; and he strongly believes that the BLP's textbook does not teach the Bible as the inerrant word of God.

You have heard the saying, "the devil is in the details.' Such is the case with this public school Bible curriculum. The Bible Literacy Project does not use a Bible, but rather a textbook to teach the Bible. It calls into question whether God is good and it appears to be the liberal answer to getting god back into the public schools-a forerunner to a one-world religion being taught here in the United States to our children. Jesus said in Luke 21:8, "Take heed that you not be deceived, for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draws near; therefore, do not go after them." These are days of great deception. Stay close to Christ that you may discern the times.

1. I've always used this passage against Bush
"Jesus said in Luke 21:8, "Take heed that you not be deceived, for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draws near; therefore, do not go after them." These are days of great deception. Stay close to Christ that you may discern the times."

I think the meaning is that "many will come in the name of Christ" which is exactly what Bush did when he started spouting his rhetoric about being put there by God and that God wants him to do certain things.

Take heed, indeed.

3. Take a look
at these critiques of the book -- they almost make me smile, as the fundies (at least some of them) are really pissed about this curriculum. It seems like it *might* be objective, but I would still prefer a review by a better source than this.

Training Students to Rethink God's Word

1. Prompts students to doubt God's sovereignty, wisdom and justice: "... if God allows evil things to happen, can God honestly be described as good? This puzzle remains essentially unsolved."<156>

2. Suggests a more universal view of the Bible: "Muslims honor Abraham as the first monotheist, worshipper of the one true God they call Allah.... Draft a resolution in covenant language that you think would resolve the conflict."<53>

3. Undermines the heart of Christianity: "Jesus was also seen as an example of self sacrifice that can be imitated." ... "On your own, try to find examples of such Christ figures in literature, film or even music." <276>

4. Ridicules Biblical warnings and prophecy: "You’ve probably seen cartoon or movie depictions of the prophet of doom, a shaggy bearded individual in ragged robes, ranting from a soapbox or wearing a sandwich board sign that reads, 'The end is near.'” …"Try your hand at doing some apocalyptic writing." <181>

5. Redefines Biblical terms: "Do absolute good and evil exist?" <163>

6. Blends pagan images with Biblical references: "Look up some examples of other ancient literature and mythology of the origins of the world (such as Enuma Elish, Gilgamesh, or Praise of the Pickax). Compare what you read there with the first two chapters of Genesis. Share your comparisons."

A More Adaptable Bible?

- Begins with a wrong perspective
- Redefines Biblical terms
- Prompts students to question God's sovereignty, wisdom and justice.
- Blends pagan images with Biblical references
- Welcomes a universal or pagan view of God:
- Undermines the authority of Scriptures:
- Ridicules Biblical warnings and prophecy
- Distorts the nature of God
- Gives false information
- Points to psychology
- Teaches the "new way of thinking" (the dialectic process)
- Reflect the authors' biases
- Communitarian suggestions

This looks like it maybe a good textbook.
