An idea for the anti-abortion folks.
You good, caring people should sign a petition advocating the banning of abortion. Be sure to include your correct name and address.

If abortion is banned, everyone who signed the petition must take three unwanted children to raise to adulthood. No exceptions, or more correctly, NO CHOICE.

Given the depth of your convictions, this is not too much to ask, right?

1. I know you are writing this tongue in cheek
but it actually is a pretty good idea.

6. They would need to be under the watch
of a protective services organization, of course.

Strict monitoring, unannounced home visits, things like they are more than happy to advocate for all the people not "like them".

7. I can't decide if that would
multiply their numbers, or multiply OUR numbers by the natural tendency for the children of such repressive fucks to go the opposite way. and watch the kids of a few thinking-progressive sorts it doesn't seem to work the opposite way. kids who grow up with freedom and free thought don't seem to choose to give them up anywhere near as often as those who grow up with neither go WAY way, the other direction. anecdotal, I know. (shrug)

11. Just like their "plan" for the aftermath of the Iraq invasion
What is their plan for the "aftermath" of overturning Roe? SUDDENTLY, all thse billions of unwanted "babies" (including who knows how many ferlitized egg "babies) will be welcomed with wanted arms, either by their natural parents or billions of adoptive parents?

Are they willing to spend tax dollars on opening up of thousands of orphanges that will be necessary? If they don't believe this will be necesary, then they will have an equivalent situation to the war in Iraq.

12. Which is why
I'm trying to give them a chance to put their homes and money where their mouth is.

Or at least give them some inkling as to what their short-sightedness could cause. Of course, I have a very very bad habit of giving people too much credit.....

14. Can we also inflict upon them the bodily harm that pregnancy can,
Edited on Wed Nov-30-05 11:22 PM by BlueIris
force them to endure the hell that is life with functioning ovaries and uteri they cannot control the way men can control their reproductive organs? Can we make all of them deathly afraid to have sex for fear they might be forced into pregnancy and childbirth? Can we make them pay for all the associated medical care those hellish, health-endangering things produce? The disgusting, vile nature of an anti-choice attitude is vile because it undermines womens' health, sanity, sentience and human rights. Claiming that the "worst" thing that would happen in the event abortion rights are even more severely restricted in this country is all the unwanted children it might produce (and in my view, it will produce more suicides and death via complications from illegal abortion) really misses the point.

15. Unfortunately, we cannot do those things.
And while I do not think that an increase in unwanted children is the "worst" thing that could happen, the sheer impact on society as a whole would be substantial.
