Do you believe that Churches that promote taking away the competitive edge
of students by insisting on ID and other non scientific ideas will in the end drive concerned parents away.

1. Some will be driven away, but . . .
many others, the "dead-enders" and true believers, will stick to the True Faith. (gag)

Net impact over the long term will be the same as home schooling generally -- i.e., to polarize society more than it already is, with the Fundies getting more and more out of the mainstream.

2. i think the "mainstream" is a myth in the first place

the distribution isn't one dimensional, but even the usual crude representation of it as such wouldn't have to mean it's unimodal. we have more mainstreams than we can fucking handle.

anyway, as for the church thing. what's competitive in one place isn't necessarily so somewhere else. being a well-educated, critical thinking, scientifically minded secularist might be competitive in some places, and some workplaces. but it won't get you very fucking far toward the presidency, now will it. how "competitive" is it, really, to be smart?

it's a fucking hell of a lot more "competitive" to be born rich, fuck the world till you're forty, then get born again when it's convenient. then fuck it some more.

4. Parents that have a clue about science will be concerned
those, and there are many, who can't conceive of evolution based on genetics, selection, mutations, etc, will feel comfort in having myth pass as science.

I understand we are already not competitive on a world wide basis.

5. Why humans want to judge as though they know God's will regarding
society, death, sexuality, functionality or lack of it in the brain, even who's entitled to eternal life, abortion and on and on, is puzzling. They admit that God moves in mysterious ways which implies lack of understanding, but they do it anyway.

The so called Prophets have dreamed up a Religion that covers all of the unintelligent design flaws that irk many people and labeled these flaws sinful and evil. Many seem totally blind sided to the fact that similar flaws exist in all of the other animals as well. While holding firmly to the view that humans are special when it comes to this God or Gods.

If these God's were truly all powerful and truly wanted people to be more perfect he could have made them that way in the first place. If human destiny is a product of these Gods, are our flaws actually God's fault or our own fault?
