Jim Maceda's smarmy report from Bagdad,
Edited on Fri Nov-25-05 08:13 PM by annabanana
Which I have seen today on EVERY MSNBC show... just ran on Keith's show too. I think he was forced to show it. It showcases troops that blame the press for the negative reports, says the mission is going great, says that leaving would mean those dead died in vain, says that the troops don't want to leave until the "mission is completed".

Keith ran it without commentary

1. Yes...I saw that just now...
It seemed a bit scripted for me...now don't get me wrong...I respect our troops and praise their efforts...I was in the Navy myself...

but I have to question if those soldiers were picked because of their party affiliation...we have seen it before and I'm sure we will see it again in the near future.

2. If any soldier had the option of leaving or staying
without getting into any kind of trouble, I can pretty much imagine the exodus. I do believe those soldiers were coached.

6. I agree...
remember the whole coaching of the troops before the pResident spoke with them...

If that's how they truely feel then that's fine with me...but I hardly think that they are speaking for everyone over there...

I just got an email from a friend over there and they say it sucks, many want to come home...

3. No soldier would dare question "the mission" on national TV.

4. No troop is going to go on any MSM show, while in a combat zone
and say anything that goes against the stated mission.

Not in this day and age. MKJ

7. Showing faces, while still serving, hmmh...any pressure to give a rosy
picture? How would military brass retaliate to a derogatory comment? Might be more believable had the faces been shielded.
