How far are we willing to go...
to mess up Wal-Mart?

This morning I have to be at work at 5am. Tis a beastly hour, but someone has to do it. Anyway, I was feeding the cats and thinking of my biggest competitor, that company we all love to hate. What makes the sheeple love them so?

Is it their low prices? Not really; Wal-Mart says they have "low prices always" but lots of stores have low prices.

Is it their selection? Not in this town--except for the produce and meat, you can buy anything Wal-Mart sells at either Target or Kmart. (And in this town, if you shop Target or Kmart you can get all your building supplies in one stop too--Kmart shares a parking lot with Lowe's and Target shares one with Home Depot.)

No, the sheeple (most of whom go to church EVERY Sunday) love Wal-Mart because Wal-Mart allows the Salvation Army to ring bells in front of their stores. They go there because the Salvation Army is allowed to have one of their volunteers freeze their ass off in front of a Wal-Mart for a month a year.

And we can solve this problem. Not this year--this is an involved process--but we can do it for next year.

What we do is start a new charity: "Americans for a Wal-Mart Free America." The goal of AWFA is to spread the truth about the world's largest corporation.

So here's what we do:
Step 1: Put together a board of directors for AWFA. Make it an actual organization.
Step 2: Apply for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status from the IRS. As this is an educational organization, that shouldn't be a real problem. It's just a little paperwork.
Step 3: On the day the bellringers set up in front of the Wal-Mart, AWFA shows up, introduces itself to the store manager, informs them that their support for the Salvation Army mandates that AWFA also be allowed to raise funds and distribute literature in front of Wal-Mart stores, and notifies him that AWFA will be there until January 5.

How many minutes would it take for the Salvation Army to be removed from the front of their stores?
