More conservative "values"
Today I left work to come home and enjoy my Thanksgiving dinner only to discover that one of my bumper stickers had been torn off my car. It was the "Impeach Bush" sticker and so I must assume that it was removed by someone who disagrees with my political opinions.

They interest me, these assholes. Why would I agree with anyone who obviously feels it's right and just to try to stifle dissent? Who obviously has no idea of what this country was meant to stand for? They blather about "freedom" - what do they know of it? What do they respect about it? My freedom to register my opinion disturbs them so much that they feel free to commit theft and petty vandalism. How small-minded is that?

Their actions simply serve to reinforce why I reject everything they stand for and everything they believe in. I may just about vomit every time I see a "W" sticker but I would fight to the death for their right to display it.

Morans. They make all our points for us.

1. To quote Noam Chomsky:
"You're either in favour of freedom of all speech, or your not in favour of freedom of speech. I mean, Stalin was in favour of freedom of speech of the ideas he believed in, right?"

How DARE he come over here and "demand" free speech. As far as im concerned he should lose his freedom of speech just like the iraqis did!. then he can come here and complain.

ETA: oops replyed to the wrong post. Sorry.

However, this Liberal would have settled for a complete vote-count in Florida. Then we wouldn't have all these problems (to borrow a phrase from Trent Lott).

19. So, Mister Hero, since the mods seem to be busy
What is it that makes you such a hero? Are you off proudly fighting W's war in Iraq? Are you posting from your foxhole? Somehow I doubt it. No, I imagine you're like every other fucking chickenhawk piece of shit, spouting on and on about "freedom" and the sanctity of wars to fight for it, all the while living your slimy life under your rock in Bumfuck, USA.

Get out of my thread, asshole. Go dragging back to your Free Republic dittoheads where you can titter about your brave exploits at DU. You think you're some kind of patriot - you're a disgrace.

Get out of my thread. Hero. Yeah, right. :puke:

34. You have no idea what the definition of freedom of speech is
Asshat.

Freedom of speech means that both you and I have the right to express our opinions, be they on politics, music or whether or not you are a flaming asshole, in any public venue. It does not apply to privately run and operated websites, sites that may allow or disallow posters or opinions that they deem unsuitable for the content of their website.

What that means, for those of you dense enough to need a walk-through, is that I have every right to sport an "Impeach Bush" bumper sticker, as you have the right to sport whatever moronic stickers you have on your Hummer.

It means that protestors at the RNC are perfectly entitled to protest (which incidentally has nothing whatever to do with stifling anyone's free speech). And it means that you are not welcome on this web site.

Frankly, I don't believe you ever served a minute of a day and as for me, if the recruiters are looking for arthritic, 44 year old women, they can have at me.

9. even though I don't imagine this post will be here much longer...
...it should be noted that you're comparing legal options (civil disobedience, due process recounts, etc) to illegal ones (vandalism, theft).

And, if the shoe had been on the other foot, and "liberals" owned Diebold and had a slim majority win, the recounting would still be going on, and on, and on...

We have your number, and it's coming up. Your conservative dream is in tatters and nobody will ever take your silly shit ever again.

I personally would very much like to revoke corporate personhood, just to nail your party's coffin shut for now and all time and bury you in the bedrock of your anti-ideals.

You want to take the nation back to a time when, for example, you could kill and beat people like myself with impunity. Thanks, but no. Your philosophy- such as it is- harms other people here and all over the planet while you laugh to the bank.

You are a careless, thoughtless waste of fucking flesh and I will personlly do a little dance over the corpse of conservative ideals once they are finally and forever exposed to be the antithesis of everything this nation stands for.

Get out of my country, you steaming pile of dung, and go wreck somebody else's. Oh, wait- your party already did that, in Iraq.

Nevermind. Your party proves itself wrong every day, and at this point, I don't need to lift a finger- all I have to do is watch you destroy yourselves.

state when they lost the Governor's election. As for 2000, what about the Republican's stopping the legally mandated recount by using operatives from DC to storm the recount room in Florida?

and what about your Conservative operative who had to plead guilty to criminal charges of jamming Democratic Party phone lines on election day 2002

You don't have a high horse to climb on election issues.

4. I know the feeling
we have big screens at work - when the news was on featuring Cindy Sheehan a couple of coworkers started talking about how she should be "shut down" - I said, IT'S CALLED FREEDOM OF SPEECH - EVER HEARD OF IT? So one of them responds, well, I don't care that those people are out there but all the television cameras should not be. I said IT'S CALLED FREEDOM OF THE PRESS - EVER HEARD OF IT???

Conservatives blather on about how they hate our "freedoms" but they feel no qualms whatsoever about shutting down those people who don't agree with THEIR views. It's called FASCISM - EVER HEARD OF IT??? :puke:

33. they believe in freedom of speech so long as........
...the person speaking agrees with them!! The minute you say anything that disagrees with them......well, that's the end of freedom.

A good example of that is the debate over the war. Bush goes on and on about what a great thing he's doing by liberating the Iraqis. We're bringing freedom and democracy to Iraq.......as if to say, aren't we great people?

But as soon as someone voices a dissenting opinion, that's when he calls you unpatriotic or he devises some other insult with the intent of getting you to shut up.

There is a line I love in the Clooney (Edward R Murrow) film, 'we can't defend democracy abroad by deserting it at home'.

36. They are not conservatives. They are right-wing fanatics and radicals.
The language must be changed when discussing these people.

Traditionally, a "conservative" believed in fiscal responsibility, a strict protection of rights as guaranteed by the Constitution, the rights of the individual, smaller central government, etc.

In ***what way*** do these people resemble strict conservatives???? They are spending like drunks (and jamming the country into a desperate debt), they are perfectly willing to deny Constitutional rights to anyone who doesn't go along with them, and, under BushCo, the size of the government has metastasized like a runaway cancer. They are not conservatives, and should no longer be referred to as such.

Call them what they are: Right-wing radicals.

They blather on about "freedom", but they only mean freedom for themselves, not anyone who disagrees with them. It's really like being a dog with a domineering owner--you are as free as you want, as long as you don't tug too hard on your leash.
