DUers, what are you thankful for?
At this time in our nation's history, I am thankful for the pride I say when I say I am a liberal, socialist, American with a social conscience.

In the smaller world, I am thankful I have lived another year of almost perfect health (not counting a partially torn Achilles tendon and a possibility of another shoulder surgery), my brother is making fantastic strides in his recovery from the depths of bi-polar and acute schizophrenia, my father's business has exploded and my mother's planning her PhD. My grandmother is still alive at 93 years old and and my best friend is now 9 years sober and I'm 1 year and 3 weeks.

What are you thankful for? For some reason, I am at peaceful calm writing this post.

2. Really good freinds
And all kinds of loving support that has helped me keep going when things looked bleak. Good people in politics and elsewhere that are willing to do the right thing they have the proper information. Life in general.

3. Happy belated birthday, SammyBlue
Big picture: I'm grateful that the nation seems to be rousing itself. The war is unpopular, election fraud is a topic of discussion, people are mobilizing to help each other while their government is AWOL.

Cameo: I'm grateful my dog is still with us. She has been a great comfort. That there is a good roof overhead. That our family is more at peace now than ever.

And, it's so good to hear about your brother. So very good.

Beth

4. That my daughter didn't fly back to New Orleans........
on August 27th like she was supposed to. She's a senior at Tulane University and was supposed to fly back that Saturday to resume classes that following Wednesday.
We sat here, in the safety of our home and watched the disaster unfold like a bad dream.
That's what I'm most thankful for, that my daughter is here, safe and lovely and intelligent as ever! (A Democrat too) ;)

6. My family and my friends
Edited on Thu Nov-24-05 07:50 AM by whatever4
And the knowing that, though our nation and our world is in trouble and faces many more issues, I'm thankful to be aware of it at the time. I'm thankful to not be in the group that is realizing, or beginning to admit to seeing, that they were wrong about Bush, wrong about Iraq, and wrong to support the republican/neocon agenda. I'm very thankful to not be in that thoughtless, cruel and soon to feel very guilty group. Thankful that I saw the light, got a clue, and I'm not one of them. And won't ever apologize for them or feel the need to. For all my faults and problems, I didn't side with the murderers. Thankfully.

Best wishes to everyone.

Their debut album just makes me smile.

Also Martha Stewart, without whom I would lack the confidence to make a turkey.

I'm thankful for Patrick Fitzgerald's patriotism and dedication to his duty!

I'm thankful that we are one year closer, than we were last Thanksgiving, to that day when Bush will finally go back to Crawford for good...

all of my family, especially my daughter and how great she is doing in school so far. also for my job with the company i worked for once as a temp and always wanted to go back as a perm, and did. i am also grateful to God or fate that my breaks didn't go out on my car until i was turning onto the street to my apt. complex right where my mechanic is....

I am grateful to be going on the trip that i am leaving for today - to England. I am extremely grateful that I had the chance to start learning of my natural abilities (with someone very special to me!) in the last few months. I can't wait to see him tomorrow :hi:

And most definately I am grateful for all the Democratic leaders who have been finally speaking out aganst the war and the Bush admin. the past few months. And, I am grateful for DU

16. Great post, we all need to reflect
occassionally. I am truly thankful for my kids, it has been a long journey. I am also thankful I have been able to be a stay-home mom so that I could watch them grow. 24 great years with one, 17 with the other. They have become wonderful people.
