Very cool invention for recycling tires ...
This guy just won the Australian "New Inventors" competition for a commercial application to recycling old car tires into a myriad of raw materials that can be re-used. Check out the technology and uses ... it's fascinating:

1. Very cool. From their "Products" page:
Silicone Tiles

Molectra’s® Silicone Tiles are made from rubber crumb (4 – 16 mesh) and covered in a non-slip rubber compound for an attractive finish. This rubber compound “skin” gives the tiles a longer life cycle and can be completely smooth or contain various textures for added safety and appearance. The tiles are hardwearing and can be made in almost any colour, shape and design including interlocking to suit the customers’ needs.

Some of the many benefits of these products include:

* Hardwearing with long life cycle
* Non-slip surface
* Soft cushioning effect
* Attractive finish
* Resilient severe temperature change
* Salt and chemical resistant
* UV rated – ideal for both indoors and outdoors

Soil Aerator

Molectra’s® Soil Aerator is a high quality rubber crumb specially developed to aerate soil. When mixed with soil or potting mix in gardens and pots or incorporated under lawn, this product has many environmental and practical benefits. The rubber particles create channels to assist water penetration and encourage the development of deep-seated roots. It has a long life cycle and is inert so it doesn’t harm the plants or the microbes in the soil. This product is safe to use with children and pets and is ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.

Some of the many benefits of these products include:

* Aerates soil
* Improves drainage
* Minimises root-rot
* Breaks up heavy soil
* Assists water penetration
* Slows washout of minerals and fertilisers into waterways
* Assists in the development of stronger and healthier root systems
* Increases the capacity of the plant to absorb water, minerals and nutrients.

2. very cool! I just had to buy a new tire last week
and was mentioning to my friend who changed my flat that I felt bad bc my old tire would be clogging up the earth forever-and it was my own fault for being a bad driver and riding up against a curb.

shoulda kept it and applied one of these ideas!
