Mardi Gras Parade Schedule
Lets take a break from talking about the garbage we need to set out by the curb - republicans, and spend a moment about really exciting news. Today New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin announced an abbreviated calendar for Mardi Gras Krewes to parade in the city.

18-19 February (Saturday and Sunday) and then 23-28 February. The shortened schedule is due to the lack of funds to pay police overtime, however a good time will be had by all. A complete list of which krewes are rolling on which nights is forthcoming.

As they say in the Parish - Let the Good times roll!

or http://www.wwltv.com/local/stories/WWL112305parade.26b77b8.html if registration bugs you as much as it does me. :-)

Schedules for the parades are:
-- Feb. 18; Pontchartrain, Pygmalion, Sparta, Pegasus
-- Feb. 19; Carrollton, King Arthur, Bards
-- Feb. 23; Babylon, Chaos, Muses
-- Feb. 24; Hermes, Krewe D'etat, Morpheus
-- Feb. 25; Iris, Tucks, Endymion
-- Feb. 26; Okeanos, Thoth, MidCity, Bacchus
-- Feb. 27; Proteus, Orpheus
-- Feb. 28; Zulu, Rex, Elks Trucks, Crecent
(sic) City Trucks

Throw me somethin' mister! Actually there is a slim chance I might be back in town by then...

edit: if you can't make it, or just want a preview, Orpheus will be in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade tomorrow on NBC!

2. Laissez le bons temps roulet
I hope these parades are broadcast on the Web so I can see 'em. In the meantime, be sure and order those King Cakes -- I know that the bakeries of NOLA are slowly getting back to normal.

3. It's very hard to know whether to cry or give a high five.
I've been to Mardi Gras, and the good times do roll, but I can't forget the people on the roofs, in the convention center & stadium. I pray that NO will be made whole, but the challenge is obviously too great for the * administration to undertake. Those of you from NO, do we outsiders celebrate Mardi Gras or continue mourning for your great city?

9. You are right. To deny NO the right to celebrate Mardi Gras
would be to deny the spirit of the city--and that must live above all else. But at the same time, we will cry and grieve for the tremendous loss.

7. No, you celebrate Mardi Gras and have your own
Bare Your Breasts day. We don't want no mourning...because The Crescent City will be back...it's been written off at LEAST 8 times in history...and it came back...and it'll come back this time too.

Thats what ya do :)

11. I love your attitude J. Temperance
But you don't want to see (even I don't want to see) my almost 60-year-old breasts! NO will be back! I believe and you belive, and it will happen, just not under * IMOP.

12. Hey
As a girl I don't want to see any girl's breasts!

But you know, it doesn't matter what a person's age is, you can still have fun and let it all hang out...that's my motto anyhow. But I'm a born and bred hedonist, so it mightn't be everybody's cup of tea.

You know, I'd actually prefer NOLA to stay the way it is RIGHT now, and see if we can wait until 2008...we get a Democratic President, then I'd say, lets start the rebuilding. You're correct NOT to trust Junior and the Repukes on this.

The Repukes have ALWAYS hated NOLA, for what it's stood for, and for the love of life and fun and carefree and open-minded attitude of the people. I don't trust the Repukes one iota on this...how can Junior promise to help rebuild a city that the Repukes have ALWAYS hated?

We should have our 2008 Convention in NOLA and our Democratic Presidential nominee then and there should say: "If elected I'm going bring NOLA back to what it was."

And we'd TRUST him to.

When this happens, we should all be there.

5. There's only 60,000 people in New Orleans
Out of a city that once held 500,000 people. It's going to be one awful lonely party, since so many have said they won't return.

8. It's not that they DON'T want to return
It's that the Repuke bastards and their FEMA buttboys are doing their BEST to make it as DIFFICULT as possible for those good people TO return.

10. I don't think they worry about that as much as they worry about living
Edited on Wed Nov-23-05 09:49 PM by Selatius
Houses and cities are just objects in the end. The last polling reports I saw said less than half would return and that they'd settle down in Houston and other places where they fled to and start over. New Orleans the city may no longer exist as we know it, but the people of New Orleans still "party on," even if they no longer live in the city.

13. "good people" = white people to Bushco
That's what they're striving for. The real life of NOLA will be gone, I'm afraid, destroyed by this administration.
