Oprah's favorite things show for Katrina heroes
Absolutely wonderful.

One woman quit her job to go to LA to help. Others rescued animals with the help of some of the most dangerous, jailed criminals. If anybody deserved to be rewarded these people did.

Anybody else see it?

2. Those people definitely deserve recognition
but did she give anything to the victims?

At least 100 so far.

6. Thanks, just wondering
I hope she will do a show with victims in the audience, too, though. How does she manage to give away so much stuff???

7. Some through corporate donations, some through her Angel Network
and some from her pocketbook.

8. Im a big fan of her Angel Network.
remember all those tons of coins several years ago?

I can't help but adore humanitarianism. She's the kind of Aquarian I wanna be (not that only Aquarians are into helping others, but that's what we get off on more than anything else!).

16. Sponsors love to donate stuff... The sad thing about donating to victims
Edited on Mon Nov-21-05 10:09 PM by SoCalDem
is that even if she did donate stuff to them, where would they put it?
Most of the ones who are still displaced probably have a hard time keeping track of the small amount of stuff they now have, and it;s expensive to move things..

My guess is that after some time has passed and people are more permanently located, she probably will have a show for some of them too.. But then how to choose...

Hiring people to help families locate each other and paying to get the families reuinited would be a big start

3. My sister told me about it......
After seeing yesterdays PBS program about the animal rescue volunteers, she was kinda choked up, and very happy Oprah did this.

5. The NOLA Animals are In a Desperate Crisis Right Now!!
Earlier today I put up a thread (long since buried) about animal rescue groups urgent call for volunteers to assist with rescue missions.

The worst of Katrina is NOT over for the animals left behind. They are starving and becoming diseased.

The animal crisis is extreme!! They need immediate actual help!!

17. Our rescue just brought in two convoys of dogs from NOLA this past
weekend, and we ran nine supply trucks up there last month and returned with 40 cats and dogs. If you are in the Orlando area, please consider fostering!!

to highlight Bush's failures.

15. Yes it was today. I tivoed it so watched tonight.
I cried several times at the stories of selflessness of the people in the audience--they were amazing.
