Painting locker rooms pink
This is a "news article" on abc news right now?

The color is used in psycho wards to keep people calm. And used for intimidation.

Why is everybody whining about "defaming women and gays"? We all know that's obvious.

But this "article" doesn't say the other aspect: This is cheating on a psychological level.

15. Muave is the color of a decaying corpse pulled from the sea.
It is a disturbing color. No wonder it was created during the Victorian era.

29. You really have a pig?
I thought you were speaking euphemistically.

Does a pig change color once the little darlin' leaves the poke? :-)

good in the pic. I posted it for you. He's at the lower right of the sign. Used to have a pig, but not pink. Black and White. Named Hambone. Smarter than a bushitler, which ain't say'n much.

34. Mauve is the pallor of cold death.
A healthy mind recoils from it.

It had a re-emergence in the 80's too, just the perfect color for the Reagan era.

5. I think the controversy is political correctness gone amok
The psychological evidence is pretty clear about what pink does to competitors. An association with gays and women is coincidental.

And I will not be called anti-gay because I take this position. I support the rights of gays to serve in the military openly, to legally marry, to adopt children and to be protected against job and housing discrimination.

Football is a tough and violent game. This kind of stuff should not be considered surprising.

6. Go Iowa Hawkeyes!
I am not watching the story on the news, but I am guessing they are talking about the Iowa Hawkeyes visitors locker room. The visiting locker room has been painted pink for over 20 years. Former Iowa head coach Hayden Fry was a physchology major and decided to do this to give his team any advantage they could get. This year a visiting Law Professor has started a fuss about it, saying that it is descriminatory towards women and gays.

I think the whole thing is ridiculous. It is just a football locker room. It is a tradition and it doesn't harm anyone.

19. I don't see how it could be discriminatory...
Nobody is being targeted for being a woman or for being gay. If I walked into my office and somebody painted it pink because I really am gay, I think it would be a totally different story.

10. I'm fairly amused at this.....
Hayden Fry did this a couple of decades ago and it is now a "hot" news story?????

Seems to me, although the Hawks won more than they lost at home...they did get their asses thumped on more than one occasion....fail to see that it had any effect....havin' trouble believin' somebody that trains 24/7, pumps up w/ roids, has 50,000 people screamin at 'em, pressure from coaches, fellow players and routinely engages in a physical smash mouth sport like football is going to get all discombobulated by a wall painted pink...

If this is what some people got to worry about, I'd say life is goin' pretty good....

cheating on a psychological level?? is there some rule mandating any aspect of what the opponents locker is supposed to be configured as?

14. If they want to screw with their minds, shorten one leg on all
chairs and benches. Lower the flow on all water fountains, and loosen the bolts on the toilet seats so they scoot around. Make sure the fluorescent lights blink.

Edited on Sun Nov-20-05 06:51 PM by Kurovski
"Healing scar" or "tumbleweed" which is an off-white pinkish-tan color.

They could have saved themselves from all the teeth-gnashing.

PC run amok? You bet.
