"Turtles Can Fly"

Has anyone seen this movie? Directed by Bahman Ghobadi (A Time for Drunken Horses) and it's an Iraq/Iran co-production. About a young man who is a leader of a group of children/orphans in Iraq just prior to the onset of the war.

I thought it was excellent. A brilliant character study of the primarily child characters acted by non-professionals, some of which are refugees. A heartwrenching story for anyone who cares to see the effect of our involvement.

I fell in love with these characters and my heart aches.

can you imagine waiting for bombs they knew were coming? i watched it twice. ameriKa NEEDS to see this film.

2. I totally agree

If only to have it drilled home that this is a beautifully human population that we are decimating. Not some nameless, faceless, spot on the map.
