Former USSR countries taking hints on Bush nepotism realpolitik
From The UK:s BBC:

One of the candidates in Azerbaijan's presidential election, Ilham Aliyev, has taken over the presidency from his father, the ailing Heydar Aliyev. It is the first time that the rule of a post-Soviet state has passed from father to son - but some other countries in the region have also shown "dynastic" tendencies. In many of them relatives of the president have amassed economic rather than political power, becoming some of the country's biggest businessmen and women.

2. Yes, you can blame it on Bush.
Because he and his family's poli-business ties exemplifies everything that is wrong with this country. It's all about networking with family and friends, and creating economic disparities for everyone else.

4. Yes, So
It's not like Nepotism and Cronyism are a new concept just introduced by them. I'm not saying they're good things, but blaming Bush for those actions halfway across the world seems a bit of a stretch to me.

5. All roads lead back to Bush 1 and his world domination plan
He and Thatcher had so much to hide they made sure they planted as much cover as possible around the world, including the former USSR countries.

7. They're just following the Bush 1 formula of 'if it ain't broke don't
fix it' - like Bashar Assaad following on from Hafez in Syria

8. I'm sorry
but that formula has been around far far FAR longer than the Bushes. Not everything can be blamed on Bush

9. Didn't say he wrote the script for the Big Picture, but he sure as
hell penned best case scenario to guarantee Bush 2 a home win so his own chapter of the republican hellfire club could win their turf war...

When he was CIA director he covered up more cold war atrocities than even his worst critics could ever level at him. Much of the proof is held in the UK under a blanket of Official Secrets Act denials. However, an even greater amount is held in UK and US supreme court lawsuit documents testifying to his self serving perfidity, and validated by subsequent evidence held by security/intelligence services.

10. Outrage is what's missing from your arguments.
Edited on Thu Oct-16-03 12:04 PM by The Backlash Cometh
He is the leader of this country and the fact that he's taken an old forumula and arrogantly flaunted its use for his & his cronys' profit, at our expense, is enough to justify more than a little outrage.

You make it sound like you're willing to give him a free pass because nepotism and cronyism aren't original ideas. Sorry, not good enough. He sets the example for everyone. And if you don't think that local and state big wigs aren't prepared to follow his example, you're in for a big surprise. They already do it. Now the only thing to see is if the public will accept that kind of behavior when it's out in the open.

11. Outrage temporarily on ice, pending my attorneys' advice....
but looking forward to putting some 'documentary evidence' into the public domain on a special memorial website, to be launched in time for Dumbo's state visit to the UK next month....

Eat your heart out, repuke shitheads!

12. I never said that. You're putting words in my mouth
I'm not giving him a pass for it at all. I am outraged and am working my ass off to get him out of office so this kind of bullshit stops. I abhorr his nepotism and cronyism and want him out immediately that said

HOW IS THE NEPOTISM AND CRONYISM IN THE FORMER USSR HIS FAULT?

answer that question, that's all I'm getting at here. I realize he sets an example yes, but the seeds for this are not his fault.

14. Since you put it that way.
Perhaps the cronyism and nepotism of the former USSR are not Bush's fault, but there is a lesson to learn here. The old communist's way of doing business was one of the reasons for communism's downfall. They alienated the Russians who were not communist, just like Bush is now alienated those who are not diehard Republicans.
