To those of you watching the talking heads this am, the debate has shifted.
Calling Murtha names didn't work. Partially because Murtha was so good at deflecting it, refusing to trade insults and keeping the interviewer on topic. That was refreshing. The last name calling was done by Cheney in the tux. They are talking about it and making fun of him. (Did you see Stewart trash him over it? Funniest 10 minutes in TV ever...but I'm talking about "serious" news shows.) Then that awful Jean Schmidt (?) who they are also making fun of.
It's over. We've reached the moment. Just like "have you no decency" and "they taped all the conversations in the White House."
Murtha all but admitted he's speaking for the generals. Rumsfeld all but admits we are getting ready to pull troops out.
It's over. Thanks to Murtha. And the American people waking up.
1. It took a lot of effort by thousands of people to reach this point
Lots of effort to get past the Iron Curtian of American Media and get some truth out there to the general public.
Lots of courage from the many citizens who spoke from their hearts and acted upon convictions inspite of ridicule and cruel restrictions placed on their rights.
Lots of dedication to stand in blazing sun in a ditch or lend support to those who did.
Lots of brilliant work turning up so much dirt to expose how so many parts are all connected at the roots.
Murtha is a brave and clever man. But he is one among thousands who helped us reach this point.
There were many sounding reveille to wake up the people.
This Thanksgiving, send up thanks to them, in what ever way you use in your meditations. Give thanks for the all the work of good Americans.
